How did the Lewis Hamilton earn his money and wealth?

Lewis Hamilton is a racing driver who at the moment races for Mercedes AMG Petronas in Formula One. He is from Stevenage, England and was Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton on January 7, 1985. He is considered as one of the greatest drivers in the history of racing sport and has been a Formula World Champion a record four times. He was raised as a Roman Catholic and his parents separated when he was two years old.  He was raised in Stevenage and became interested in racing as a six year old when his father gifted him a radio-controlled car.

The following year, he even went on to come second at the national BRCA championship. His father bought him a go-kart for Christmas when he was six and promised Hamilton that he would support him as long as his grades did not fail at school. His father later took up three jobs at one time to be able to support his son. His father managed Hamilton’s career until early 2010. He studied at The John Henry Newman School and apart from racing; he also played football and cricket. He later attended Cambridge Arts and Science (CATS), a private sixth-form college in Cambridge.

In 1993, while he was 8 years of age, Hamilton began karting at the Rye House Kart Circuit. While there, he won many races as well as Cadet Class championships. Such was his talent and prowess that when he met McLaren F1 team boss Ron Dennis for his autograph, he introduced himself to Dennis and said that he would race for his cars one day who in return asked Hamilton to call him back in nine years. After Hamilton won his second British championship and an additional Super One series, Dennis did call him and asked him to join the McLaren driver development program. This move by Hamilton ensured that he had a contract which gave him the option of a future F1 seat which later made Hamilton the youngest driver to have a contract which would result in an F1 drive.

Hamilton slowly climbed the ranks from the International A (1999) to Formula A (2000) to Formula Super A (2001) and later became Europen Champion in the year 2000 along with maximum points. He was made a “Rising Star” Member following his success in karting by the British Racing Drivers’ Club in 2000.

Hamilton began his car racing career in the British Formula Renault Winter Series in 2001. He was back with McLaren in 2004 and made his debut with Manor in the Formula 3 Euro Series. After his success in Formula Three in 2006, he moved to ASM’s sister GP2 team ART Grand Prix and won the GP2 championship on his first attempt. Hamilton won his first Formula One in the Canadian Grand Prix in 2007 and followed it up with the United States Grand Prix immediately after a week. He raced for McLaren until 2012 and joined Mercedes from 2013 season.
