How did Method Man earn his money and wealth?
Method Man was born on March 2 in 1971 and is a successful American rapper, record producer, and actor. He is the member of the group of the famous East Coast hip hop collective Wu-Tang Clan. He is also the partner of the Duo group of the hip-hop Method Man & Redman. His original name is Clifford Smith, but he changed his name after having been inspired by the movie Method Man released in 1979. As Wu-Tang Clan reached the peak of stardom, Method Man was one of the most noticed members of the group. He also got an opportunity to sing a solo song on the group’s debut album Enter the Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers and he was the first one to release his solo album under the Wu-Tang Clan’s contract which allowed his members to record any song under any record label.
Taking the advantage of the contract, Method Man signed with rap label Def Jam Recordings. Method Man released his solo debut, Tical in 1994. The album was critically applauded and well received by the audience, occupying the position #4 on the American Charts and eventually selling more than one million copies. That album delivered the hit single “All I Need”, which was later remixed featuring Mary J. Blige and won the Grammy Award.
During this time, Method Man appeared as the guest rapper on the debut album of New York City-based rapper The Notorious B.I.G, Ready to Die, with whom the Method Man developed his friendship. Method Man was also featured on the album of Spice 1’s AmeriKKKa’s Nightmare on the track which is “Hard 2 Kill”. In 1995, he was also featured on A.G.’s album Goodfellas and on “Got the Flava”. In 1996, he appeared on the album of Tupac Shakur, All Eyez on Me, featuring on the song “Got My Mind Made Up” along with his rhyme partner Redman, Inspectah Deck, and Dogg Pound.
Other studio albums in which he made his successful appearances include Tical 2000: Judgement Day (1998), Tical 0: The Prequel (2004), 4:21… The Day After (2006), The Meth Lab (2015), Meth Lab II: The Lithium (TBA).
Besides featuring in albums, Method Man has also appeared in many television shows and movies. Clifford has been part of films like How High, Belly, Garden State, Venom, The Wackness, Red Tails etc. On television, he along with his friend, rapper Redman appeared on Fox’s Method & Red. In 2016, he had a guest appearance in Luke Cage which is a Netflix series.
