Michael Buffer is an American ring announcer. He has announced numerous boxing and other sporting events and is famously known for his catchphrase, “Let’s get ready to rumble!” Buffer was brought up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where he was born during the Second World War. His father was in the United States Navy He was only 11 months old, and his parents divorced, and Buffer was sent to a foster home where he was raised by a school bus driver and his wife who became his adoptive parents. He grew up in Roslyn which is a Philadelphia suburb. Like his birth father, he sought to serve his country during the Vietnam War and joined the United States Army. He served for three years from 20 to 23.

He started his career as a ring announcer for boxing in 1982. His career took off in just a year, and by the next year alone he was announcing all boxing matches on ESPN, which made him a national name. In 1984, he coined the phrase “Let’s get ready to rumble,” which became insanely popular. He obtained a federal trademark for the phrase in 1992. He has managed to earn in excess of $400 million from his trademark phrase. He was the sole announcer of all Donald Trump-owned casinos from the late 1980s. Buffer was also the exclusive announcer for World Championship Wrestling until 2001. After a hiatus of six years from the wrestling world, Buffer returned to the arena in 2007 for Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Buffer has also made numerous television appearances on shows like Jay Leno, Conan O’Brien, and Jimmy Kimmel, among others. He has also appeared in various movies as himself, which include “Ready to Rumble,” “Rocky Balboa,” and “Homeboy” to name a few. He also starred in the movie “You Don’t Mess with the Zohan.” He has made appearances on several other shows that include Saturday Night Live, In Living Color, Mad TV, and The Howard Stern Show. During the son twelfth season of Dancing with the Stars, Buffer made an appearance to present Sugar Ray Leonard week three dance. Buffer has been part of animation movies as an animated character in The Simpsons, South Park, and Celebrity Deathmatch. He has also been a part of Phineas and Ferb. Through this phrase, Buffer was able to seal deals with platinum-selling album Jock Jams by Tommy Boy Records. He scored a contract with the video games Ready 2 Rumble Boxing, Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2 for the PlayStation 2. He also associated with Nintendo 64, Dreamcast and Game Boy Advance and Greatest Heavyweights of the Ring for the Sega Genesis.
