Mindhunter marked the return of David Fincher to the small screen after along time and it was a treat to watch his work. This serial killer saga was one of the best new shows of last year. The show turned decades of crime procedurals on their heads by not emphasizing the act of murder and focusing on the study of the psychology and circumstances that led to those acts. The show was inspired by the nonfiction book Mindhunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit, by John E. Douglas and Mark Olshake and so there is a historical roadmap for the show to follow. The show was created by Joe Penhall. The first season of the show was available to stream worldwide on Netflix on October 13, 2017.
