‘Mountain Mamas’ is one of the more innovative shows on the forever-evolving slate of home improvement shows on HGTV. As compared to other titles from the platform which are more big-city centered, this reality series takes you to Montana aka the Big Sky Country and focuses on affordable, budget house-buying deals. Filmed by Warm Springs Productions, ‘Mountain Mamas’ is the perfect watch for those who wish to witness some classy outdoor makeovers.
Mountain Mamas Cast: Who is in it?
‘Mountain Mamas’ features Jackie Wickens and Trecie Wheat Hughes as the hosts and presenters. Jackie is a real estate expert, who embarked on the business of buying and selling homes in 2012. She is highly experienced when it comes to residential, farm, ranch, and recreational properties. With more than 17 years of background in construction, she focuses on the minutest of details and is highly committed toward meeting the expectations of her clients. Sincere, honest, and compassionate, Jackie has a husband and two kids.
Trecie is also a real estate professional and has expertise in design and architecture. She has been in this sphere from 2003 and holds authority in the “Historic Districts of Livingston and Bozeman.”
Mountain Mamas Plot: What is it about?
‘Mountain Mamas’ heads to the countryside in Montana to convert some of the rustic, rough properties into dream abodes. By introducing customized designs, Jackie and Trecie overhaul and transform homes into a river-rock-tiled master shower, an outdoor living room with a cozy fireplace, and a media room with hints of a vintage movie theater. Hence, it introduces a new twist to the otherwise homogenous concept of home improvement shows.
Montana, with its spectacular views and picturesque landscape, is an ideal site for the home renovation market, especially because more than 35 million Americans are moving here every year. Trecie and Jackie help potential homeowners in purchasing their dream havens. They help buyers choose from affordable properties while using their combined expertise in construction and design. Usually, home renovation projects feature properties whose overhauling budgets cross millions. Here, the budget is curated as per the person’s specifications. The duo guides new homeowners in also improving the resale value of their property.
According to Trecie, “We’re working with Montana families, we’re not just bringing out-of-staters into Montana. There isn’t just a whole bunch of people with an ungodly amount of money who want a huge mansion on a mountainside.” Jackie added, “We are kind of helping home buyers navigate our market, which has become pretty expensive, and is able to identify these great properties that we can then help them turn in to their Montana dream properties.”
Another goal of Trecie and Jackie is to preserve the roots of the state where they have lived for the last 15 years. Hence, their methods involve repurposing Montana’s historic residences, including old elements such as a 100-year-old barn door or a local craft brew. Their end target is to create spaces where the residents are comfortable in and can feel like it’s their own, personal little piece of haven.
Each of the half-hour-long episodes follows Jackie and Trecie as they first scout for a home and then renovate it according to the featured family’s needs. We witness the pair stripping siding off the properties, breaking down walls, fixing new siding, and taking part in all the activities alongside the construction crew. Many of the properties showcased on the show are located in the Bozeman area.
‘Mountain Mamas’ premieres with the duo helping a mom and her daughter, who have recently moved to the Treasure State. They opt for a complete run-down, dilapidated rancher, which lends a beautiful view of mountains and lands. Jackie and Trecie start their makeover process by introducing striking rustic design elements. They add a corrugated steel ceiling, barn wood accent walls, a stone-crafted fireplace, and a mantle created from reclaimed wood.
Mountain Mamas Season 2 Release Date: When will it premiere?
‘Mountain Mamas’ season 1 premiered on HGTV on August 10, 2019. As compared to other house-hunting titles such as ‘Fixer Upper’, ‘Flip or Flop‘, ‘House Hunters‘, or ‘Love it or List It’, HGTV’s country-inspired addition is more focused on reasonably priced home renovations. ‘Mountain Mamas’ has been a long time in the making, with a pilot being aired on HGTV before a couple of years. After the pilot was approved, its entire run of nine episodes for season 1 took two years to film.
The concept of ‘Mountain Mamas’ is created to make a series that is more geared towards the millennial generation. The renovations are something that real people can actually get inspired by. Hence, we hope that it stays for a while on the channel. Although HGTV has not announced another season of the show, we are positive that it should get renewed. ‘Mountain Mamas’ season 2 should release in August, 2020.
