Many lesser known actors practice patience and wait for that one film that catapults them into the big league. After they became our household names, there are some movies that we forget to notice they acted in. Those are the movies that they may have acted during their struggling days, or movies that established them as actors. So, here is a list of movies that contained our future superstars. Have a look:
15. Chaplin: Robert Downey Jr.
Robert Downey Jr. played the titular role of Charlie Chaplin in the 1992 biographical drama, Chaplin. Not so successful, upon its theatrical release, it contained one of the future superstars of Hollywood, Robert Downey Jr. It was the role of Iron Man, a marvel superhero, which made Downey Jr. a worldwide phenomenon. He is one of the most loved movie stars in the industry today.
14. The Outsiders: Tom Cruise
World’s most handsome man, Tom Cruise was lesser known, when he played Steve Randle in the 1983 drama, The Outsiders. Directed by Francis Ford Coppola, The Outsiders performed well at the box-office. But it was the 1986 action drama, Top Gun, which cemented the position of Tom Cruise as a Superstar. He then played the role of an IMF agent, Ethan Hunt, in Mission Impossible series that made him a household name.
13. Home Alone 3: Scarlett Johansson
Home Alone might be a series that is popular all over the planet, but it featured a future superstar who played a lesser known role. And that superstar was Scarlett Johansson. The Black Widow star played the role of Molly Pruitt, one of the protagonist’s three sisters. But it was the role of Charlotte in Sofia Coppola’s 2003 classic, Lost in Translation that brought Scarlett Johansson stardom. She also plays the role of Black Widow, a marvel superhero.
12. Monaco Forever- Jean Claude Van Damme
Popularly known was JCVD, Van Damme’s first role was a gay karate master in the 1984 comedy movie, Monaco Forever. JCVD later achieved Stardom with movies like Bloodsport and Kickboxer. His last appearance was in the movie, The Expendables II.
11. Six Degrees of Separation: Will Smith
Will Smith is the only actor on the planet to have eleven consecutive films that have grossed $150M consecutively. Newsweek called him “the most powerful actor”. Before all this happened, Will Smith played a lesser known role in the 1993 American Comedy film, Six degrees of Separation. Prior to his career in acting, Will Smith was a rapper. It was the 1997 movie, Men In Black, which made Will Smith a global star. His popularity increased manifold with each movie and he is now the most bankable movie star in the world.
