‘Narcos: Mexico’ is a fascinating show to say the least. Revolving around the life of real-life drug baron, Miguel Angel Felix Gallardo, the show is a spin-off of the highly popular cartel drama ‘Narcos’. The show that first premiered back in November 2018, quickly received a renewal due to the success of the first season. As you can read in our reviews, the second season didn’t disappoint either. So, now the obvious question becomes: will there be a Narcos season 3? And if yes, when will it release and what can it be about. We try to answer all those questions and some more. So keep reading.
Narcos: Mexico Season 3 Release Date
‘Narcos: Mexico’ season 2 premiered on February 13, 2020, on Netflix. It consists of a total of 10 episodes.
As far as season 3 is concerned, here’s what we know. The original Narcos show went on to air for three seasons. In fact, Narcos Mexico was originally planned as the fourth season of Narcos. There’s no question about the fact that both the shows are immensely successful. So, viewership wouldn’t be an issue if Netflix decides to renew the show for another season. Though the more pertinent question is whether the story warrants another season or will it feel forceful.
In the final episode of season 2, we see Felix ask the cop to keep an eye on Amado Carrillo Fuentes. So is that an indication that the next season might focus on Fuentes. Quite possibly! Even if it doesn’t, there are so many other directions that the show can take. If renewed, you can expect ‘Narcos: Mexico’ season 3 to release sometime in April 2021 or later (remember, there was a gap of around 14 months between season 1 and season 2).
Narcos: Mexico Season 3 Cast: Who is in it?
Since season 3 might revolve around on Amado Carrillo Fuentes, you can expect José María Yazpik to lead the cast. Apart from him, many of the original cast members from season 2 might return, notably, Diego Luna as the formidable drug lord Felix Gallardo, Scoot McNairy as the sharp-witted DEA agent Walt Breslin.
The other cast members can include Teresa Ruiz as Isabella Bautista, Tenoch Huerta as Rafael Caro Quintero, Alejandro Edda as Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, Alex Knight as Kenny Moss, Alberto Ammann as Hélmer “Pacho” Herrera, Fernanda Urrejola as Maria Elvira, and many more. Andrés Londoño, who appears as Enrique Clavel, and Gerardo Taracena, who stars as Pablo Acosta, will not be returning for season 3.
Narcos: Mexico Season 3 Plot: What can it be About?
After Felix’s arrest, Season 3 might explore Amado’s journey to becoming El Señor de Los Cielos. It is possible that the show puts into spotlight, how Amado Carrillo Fuentes took over the Juarez Cartel, after killing his own boss, Rafael Aguilar Guajardo. We can also expect to see how he manages to build his multibillion-dollar drug empire by using airspace to smuggle drugs from Columbia to Mexico.
