Sometimes you just want to get logic out-of-the-way and watch an anime for fun, and that’s where anime like ‘Nekopara’ come in. There is nothing incredible about any of the elements of ‘Nekopara’, and for the most part, it has a very simple storyline. Even its characters are quite one-dimensional and act dumb all the time. But all of these aspects make this show enjoyable to watch. And if you have read the visual novels it has been adapted from, you’ll probably have a really good time watching it. The OVA of ‘Nekopara’ did really well and its anime adaptation is now underway. Here is everything you need to know about it.

Nekopara Season 1 Release Date: When will it premiere?

Based on a visual novel developed by Neko Works, ‘Nekopara’ is an rom-com anime that is scheduled to premiere on Jan 9, 2020.  Assuming that it will have a total of 12 episodes in its first season, we can expect it to end by April 2020.

In July 2016, a ‘Nekopara’ OVA released to start a fundraiser campaign for the main series, Surprisingly, the OVA itself managed to raise over a million dollars by March 2017. Since the OVA was so well received when it first premiered, we can expect a similar response from the main series as well and if everything works out well, the creators of the show might even consider it for a sequel.

Nekopara Season 1 Plot:

Kashou Minazuki, the main protagonist of the series, who is the proud owner of six catgirls. But to fulfill his life long dream of opening his own patisserie La Soleil, he decides to leave to move to a new town, leaving his old life and the catgirls behind. After moving to a new place, as he starts unpacking all of his stuff, he discovers that two catgirls have snuck into his bags and have followed him. At first, this startling discovery really concerns him as he realizes that he will not able to handle the catgirls while running his shop. However, he later discovers that a few extra hands on deck will probably not hurt him. What follows is his journey towards making his bakery the best in the city while his sister and catgirls try to help him achieve his dream.

Nekopara Season 1 Characters:

Kashou Minaduki

Kashou is the main character of the series who initially lives with his sister Shigure and her catgirls. Without telling anyone about it, he decides to move away from his home to start his own bakery. But he later discovers that two of his family’s catgirls have followed him. His parents are never really mentioned in the series but there are moments where it is implied that he has a strained relationship with them. Kashou, though he is extremely dedicated to achieving his dreams, he never neglects the catgirls with him. When they’re depressed or low about something, he leaves everything behind him and tries to help them out in every possible way. But at times, he gets so involved with work that he completely ignores any subtle hints given by them and has to be directly told whats going on.

Kashou does not depend on anyone. He bravely moves out of his home to fulfill his dream and never looks back at his old life. He also takes immense pride in his skills as a baker and constantly looks for new ways to create something inventive out of his recipes. More than making profits out of his bakery business, he cares about the opinion of the ones who are willing to try out his creations.

Chocola

Chocola is one of the youngest catgirls of the Minaduki family and along with Vanilla, she was found as a stray on the street. After being adopted by the Minadukis, she fell extremely ill but later managed to recover from it. Following this, after receiving a lot of affection from Kashou, she falls in love with him. That’s probably the reason why she ends up following him later.

Vanilla

Vanilla is Chocola’s twin sister. Since both of them have a thing for Kashou, they become love rivals of one another and always try to get his attention. Unlike Chocola, though, she always remains calm and never truly expresses what she feels. But despite seeing her sister as a rival, she really loves her and follows her around all the time. Every time Kashou gets perverted in any way, she gets really mad at him and calls him a “horny pastry puffer.” Compared to her sister, she is also quite mature and thinks a lot before taking any crucial decisions.
