‘Bond 25’: Cast, Plot, Release Date, Trailer, News

‘Bond 25’, the next James Bond movie, is an upcoming spy thriller being directed by Cary Fukunaga. Expected to hit screens in 2020, the movie has Daniel Craig reprising his role as the ruthless double agent James Bond in what is supposed to be his fifth and final performance. Bond 25 will be the twenty-fifth film in the James Bond series produced by EON Productions for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.

Cary Fukunaga seems to be a radical choice for directing Bond 25. He previously directed Season 1 of True Detective, which today is regarded as one of the best shows ever made.  His most recent show Netflix series Maniac has also been getting good reviews. Though mostly known for his TV work, Fukunaga is also becoming a name to reckon with in the filmosphere. He made a splash with his directorial debut Sin Nombre in 2009, and impressed with his 2011 Jane Eyre adaptation. In 2015, his Beasts of No Nation earned great reviews and awards love.

Bond 25 Cast:

A lot of speculation is rife regarding the cast of the movie. Except for the fact that Daniel Craig will be reprising his titular role, everything else remains unconfirmed. It is also likely that Naomi Harris will reprise her role as Miss Moneypenny, Ralph Fiennes as M, Ben Whishaw as Q and Rory Kinnear as Bill Tanner. Sources have been claiming that Helena Bonham Carter is producers’ first choice for the main villain in Bond 25. Angelina Jolie had previously been rumored to star in the movie. Latest sources claim that Benedict Cumberbatch might also have a role in Bond 25. Though with Fukunaga replacing Boyle, we can see some major changes in the cast.

Bond 25 Plot:

Just like the cast of the movie, the plot is still unknown. Speculations regarding the premise of the movie are rife since multiple people seem to be involved in scripting of the screenplay of the movie. In April 2017 Barbara Broccoli mentioned that Neal Purvis and Robert Wade had drafted Bond 25 and were ready to write a script. On July 24 2017, writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade were officially announced to be returning, along with producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli. Later in May 2018, it was confirmed that the film will have an original screenplay by John Hodge. In my opinion the movie’s plot might borrow from the original material by Ian Fleming but with the kind of rejuvenation which Bond has seen in the last four films, the film’s screenplay will definitely have new twists to suit the modern settings which Bond finds himself in. This seems quite evident in the previous release ‘Spectre’ where Bond revisits old links to his previous detours some 40 years after Spectre made its first appearance in ‘Diamonds Are Forever’ as a criminal organization.

Bond 25 Release Date:

In July 2017, it was announced that the film would be released in the United States on 8 November 2019, with the early release in the United Kingdom on 25 October 2019. But with Fukunaga taking over the film from Boyle, the release date has been shifted further to February, 2020.
