6. Untitled Elvis Presley Project (TBA)
Tom Hanks is reportedly in talks to join the upcoming untitled biopic of the legendary Elvis Presley. The actor will play the character of Col. Tom Parker, the manager who played a crucial role in shaping up Elvis’ life as a musical legend. But the actor hasn’t confirmed the deal yet. The Warner Bros. movie is directed by Baz Luhrmann who is known for ‘The Great Gatsby’ and ‘Moulin Rouge!’ The actor to play Elvis has not been cast yet. The plot reportedly focuses on Elvis’ meteoric rise to fame and his relationship with Parker. Both of them met in the ‘50s when Elvis was an 18-year-old aspiring singer. ‘In the Garden of Beasts’ is an upcoming World War II film from StudioCanal and Playtone Productions. Based on the true story of William Dodd, a gentle professor from Chicago who becomes the first U.S. ambassador to Nazi Germany reeling under the iron grip of Hitler’s Third Reich. Dodd lands Berlin during the early days of World War II along with his family. When he learns about the brutalities and crimes against Jews which are on the rise, he presses the panic button to alarm the U.S. State Department. But his warnings are met with indifference. Gradually, Dodd realizes the shocking truth that he is witnessing one of the cruelest genocides in the history of humankind.
According to Variety, Tom Hanks will most likely play the role of William Dodd. The actor also serves as a producer of the movie, which will be directed by Joe Wright. Hank produces the film along with Gary Goetzman under their banner, Playtone. ‘In the Garden of Beasts’ is adapted from the 2011 book of the same name by Erik Larson. The movie was previously set up with Universal before StudioCanal came on board. No release date has been attached to the project, which is currently in the early stages of development.
