2. A Man Called Ove

Based on Fredrik Backman’s titular bestseller, a Swedish comedy-drama of the same name hit screens in 2015. Tom Hanks has now committed to the English adaptation of the Swedish movie, which boasts of two Oscar nominations at the 89th award ceremony. The film is about a lonely man, difficult to deal with, who unable to take it anymore, resorts to committing suicide, but fails at each attempt, thanks to his bad luck and wrong timing. Things start to look up when his new neighbours move in across the street and strike an unlikely bond with Ove. Luckily, we will get to see the star producing as well as featuring as the eponymous character in the upcoming film!

Miguel Sapochnik, who has given us the most loved fantasy drama “Game Of Thrones”, is ready to wield the baton for ‘BIOS’, a sci-fi film, which will star Tom Hanks in the lead. It is a story set in the post-apocalyptic world, where a scientist, who has programmed a robot to protect his dog from the consequences of the end of the world, is laying on his deathbed. As per the news doing multiple rounds on the Internet, the robot, although is a machine, starts learning about the meaning of life, love and the bond of friendship. Sounding quite interesting form the plotline itself, we hope with Hanks as the dying scientist, the film will certainly tug at our heartstrings!

4. Greyhound

Recent news has confirmed that Tom Hanks is all set to adapt C. S. Forester’s novel titled “The Good Shepherd” into a movie, slated to release in April 2019. Hanks will not only play the lead role of Captain Ernest Krause but is also in the process of writing the script of the war drama. All “T.Hanks” to his hard work over the years, he will also produce the film as per the reports! The movie will be set in the early WW-II years, where Hanks’ convoy of ships will be hotly pursued by Nazi submarines. Going by his choice of war films in the past, we are keeping our hopes high from this film too!

5. You Are My Friend

When television was at its peak, one man named Fred Rogers took it upon himself to give the young ones a show, which they could call their own. So in 1968, he came up with a show called “Mister Rogers’ Neighbourhood”, in which he interacted with live audiences, struck up conversations on TV and taught pre-schoolers all things good. He also taught how simple machines typically worked and made it a lot easier for little ones to gain knowledge from what was known as the idiot box! Based on Paulette Jiles’ novel of the same name, the book was a bestseller, set in 19th century Texas, which was changing for the better. Tom Hanks, who is all set to put his money on a project titled ‘Summer Hours’, along with his producing partner Gary Goetzman, might star in the film ‘Summer Hours’, which is a remake of the much-loved 2009 French movie of the same name. It narrates the story of three middle-aged siblings, who reunite after their mother’s death and observe that their childhood memories are soon disappearing as they begin to part with their old belongings. Disney’s classic animated film ‘Dumbo’, which was about a circus elephant and her big-eared calf, who was termed Dumbo for his peculiar appearance and awkward gait, is all set to come back in a live-action format and we hear Will Smith and Tom Hanks are signed onboard. While Smith’s appearance is still on hold regarding salary issues, but Hanks is confirmed to pay the villain in the remake. 10. In The Garden Of Beasts

Dodd, who was selected by President Franklin Roosevelt to be the first Ambassador to Germany during the Nazi era. Unaware of the dark days that lay ahead, the film will track Dodd family’s time in the country that turned from attractive to tragic in a few years time. We hear Hanks is toying with the idea of playing Dodd in the biographical film.
