Final 2020 Oscar Nomination Predictions: ‘Joker’ to Receive 10 Nominations

Oscar 2020 nominations are upon us and things are about to get crazy. Here we are in January and it’s still not yet clear which film will win the Best Picture. Thankfully, we have a few more weeks before the actual awards are presented. But predicting the nominations still remains a big challenge without a clear frontrunner.

2019 gave us some phenomenal films but if you have been following Oscar race for last several years, you already know that a “great” film may not necessarily mean an “Oscar” film. Fortunately for us, most of the great films of 2019 are also strong contenders for Oscar. Be it ‘Parasite’ or ‘Little Women’, the stack of Oscar contenders is full of some amazing cinematic achievements.

After thoroughly analyzing every aspect of all the Oscar contenders for this year, it is quite clear that there are 5 films that will feature heavily on Oscar nominations list: ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’, ‘The Irishman’, ‘Joker’, ‘1917’, ‘Parasite’, and ‘Marriage Story’. Then there are other films like ‘Jojo Rabbit’ and ‘Little Women’ that should also do well. With nomination window much shorter this year, I feel the Academy members might stick with “known” names instead of digging out some undiscovered gems.

In any case, as you all know, we here at The Cinemaholic do our best to bring to you the most accurate Oscar predictions. (We can officially claim to be most accurate predictors on internet considering we have consistently and correctly predicted at least 85 nominees out of 106/107 in 21 main categories for the past three years — a feat no other publication can claim to make). In 2017, we broke all records by predicting 94 nominees correctly. Last year we predicted 86 nominees correctly — better than all Oscar experts out there. But each year is different. This year is particularly difficult.

With that said, take your time to go through the predictions of all the 21 categories (I don’t predict the 3 shorts categories). It is a long list and you will need some time to go through one by one.

Nominations for 92nd Academy Awards will be announced at 5:18 am PT on Monday, 13th January.
