4. Dune (2020)
‘Dune’ is the upcoming blockbuster Denis Villeneuve project that has an extremely talented cast including Oscar Isaac. Based on Frank Herbert’s science fiction novel, ‘Dune’ will explore how the son of a noble family is put in charge of a desert planet called Arrakis.
Set in the future of humanity, Duke Leto Atreides accepts the stewardship of a planet known as Arrakis. The planet is known for the most valuable commodity in the universe, called ‘the spice’, which enhances thought levels. Isaac appears in the role of Leto, who assumes control of the mining operations of the spice, which is made perilous by the presence of giant desert sandworms. Leto is aware that this seeming opportunity is an elaborate trap set by his enemies, who actually want control of the resource. However, he moves to the planet with his family and the film is about the adventures and betrayals on this planet.
Notably, an earlier version of ‘Dune’ exists, which has been directed by David Lynch. However, the project was not very well received, although to be fair, Lynch did not get his way with the project. Villeneuve has made it clear that he has not turned to Lynch’s film for inspiration, rather going to the source material. The movie has been in the pipelines for a long time, which has allowed the director to assimilate a cast that will deliver remarkable performances. When we couple this with the fact that the director is one of the finest minds in science fiction working in the industry currently, we cannot help but get excited to see how he brings Herbert’s story to life in a manner that will remain unforgettable to the viewers.

2. A Foreigner (TBA)
Oscar Issac is officially on board to star in the Paramount thriller ‘A Foreigner.’ ‘Me and Earl and the Dying Girl’ director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon will direct the movie from a script by Chris Terrio. Steve Zaillian is producing through his Film Rites banner, along with Steven Rales, Garrett Basch, Mark Roybal, and Mark Johnson.
The picture revolves around a murdered Guatemalan man, who arranges for videos of his killers to be distributed after his death in order to uproot the corruption that has led to other killings. The story is based on David Grann’s 2011 New Yorker article ‘A Murder Foretold’.
1. The Garbo Network (TBA)
Oscar Isaac will star in World War II thriller ‘The Garbo Network’ with Bob Cooper and Richard Saperstein’s Storyscape Entertainment launching sales at the Berlin Film Festival. The script for ‘The Garbo Network’ has been written by William Wheeler and will be produced by Cooper, Saperstein, Chuck Weinstock, Jason Spire, and Isaac.
The film is based on the true story of Juan Pujol Garcia, an eccentric double-agent who, with no military or covert training, somehow persuaded both the Germans and the British to hire him as a spy. His real allegiance was to England and working closely with MI5, he created a fictional network of 27 spies said to be spread out over England, Scotland, and Ireland. The ruse helped the English to deceive the Germans about the invasion of Normandy.
Garcia is the only man in the history of World War II to receive distinguished medals of honor from opposing sides: the German Iron Cross and the Member of the Order of the British Empire.
Triple Frontier (2019)
‘Triple Frontier’ is an American adventure crime-drama film directed by J. C. Chandor, with a screenplay by Chandor and Mark Boal. The film stars Ben Affleck, Adria Arjona, Charlie Hunnam, Garrett Hedlund, Pedro Pascal, and Oscar Isaac.
The plot digs in where loyalties are tested when five friends reunite to take down a South American drug lord, unleashing a chain of unintended consequences. The ex-military men who have always fought for their country decide to fight for themselves for once as they steal from a drug lord. Now tailed by assassins, they have to find an escape out of the place, while relationships begin to get frayed with the pressure of the operation.
At the beginning of the movie, we are introduced to the key players who will be carrying out the operation. They are brought together as a team that will pretend to work for the Colombian government while seizing the money for themselves. The target is a drug lord but their Delta Force training is more than enough to see them through the situation. Affleck’s character heads the team as the meticulous planner who leaves nothing to chance. In order to minimize risks and casualties, they carry out the heist when the druglord’s family is away.
While the heist goes off without a hitch more or less, they bite off more than they can chew. The money they steal becomes a burden literally and metaphorically as their getaway plan is ruined. Stuck in the country, dangers mount for the team as trained killers track them, looking to retrieve the loot. Fighting to stay alive, they can only trust each and hope that it is enough to get out alive. A through and through action flick, Oscar Isaac delivers a tough performance while letting his character’s humanity shine through in moments of emotion.
