Born in Norfolk, Virginia, Patrick Wilson was attracted to singing when he was a child. He used to sing with the choir directed by his mom, who was a voice teacher. Little Wilson was also interested in sports. But he missed major sports events and opportunities due to his engagements with music programs. When he was a student at the Carnegie Mellon University, he won the Charles Willard Award for Undergraduate Excellence in Music Theater. After completing his B.F.A. in Drama, Wilson started his career with local theater productions in and around his neighborhood. The young actor won the Drama League Award for a stunning performance in his Broadway debut ‘Fascinating Rhythm.’ He emerged as a rising Broadway star with productions like ‘The Full Monty’ (2001) and ‘Oklahoma’ (2002), which also earned him two Tony Award nominations for Leading Actor in a Musical.

Wilson made his film debut with the 2001 indie flick ‘My Sister’s Wedding.’ He followed it with the video movie ‘Dark Stories: Tales from Beyond the Grave’ in the same year. His big breakthrough came when he landed the supporting role of Joe Pitt alongside Al Pacino and Meryl Streep in the 2003 miniseries ‘Angels in America.’ The series went on to become a huge success and brought Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for Patrick. He was next seen alongside Dennis Quaid and Billy Bob Thornton in the movie ‘The Alamo’ in 2004. His second breakthrough came with the movie adaptation of the Broadway hit ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ in the same year. Playwright Andrew Lloyd Webber hailed him as “the Impossibly Perfect Patrick Wilson” after watching the actor perform in front of the camera.

His other major works include ‘Hard Candy’ (2005), ‘Little Children’ (2006), ‘Watchmen’ (2009), ‘Insidious’ (2010), ‘Insidious: Chapter 2’ (2013), ‘The Conjuring’ (2013), ‘The Conjuring 2’ (2016), CBS’ ‘A Gifted Man,’ and ‘Fargo’ from FX. 5. Annabelle Comes Home (2019)

Annabelle Comes Home’ is the third movie in the ‘Annabelle’ franchise and a direct sequel to ‘Annabelle: Creation’ (2017) as well as ‘Annabelle’ (2014). The main characters, Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga), professional ghost investigators who keep the evil spirits at bay, return for the third horror flick. The plot follows the demonologist couple who bring the bloodthirsty doll Annabelle to their home. Their plan is to lock the doll in their room for possessed artifacts forever. But Annabelle rises again despite all the preventive measures and she awakens other evil spirits locked in the room. Ed and Lorraine have to deal with Annabelle’s raging wrath which is aimed at their daughter Judy Warren (Mckenna Grace) and her babysitters (Madison Iseman and Katie Sarife). ‘Annabelle Comes Home’ is written and directed by Gary Dauberman, who makes his directorial debut, from a story he co-wrote with James Wan. The movie hits the screens on June 26, 2019.

4. Midway (2019)

‘Midway’ is an upcoming World War II drama starring Patrick Wilson, Woody Harrelson, Luke Evans, and Mandy Moore in the lead roles. Wilson reportedly plays the role of Edwin Layton, the rear admiral and an intelligence team member in the U.S. Navy who plays a crucial part in the events of Midway Atoll in 1942. His team zeroes in on the exact location of the Imperial Japanese Navy approaching the base. In the attack that follows, the American troops devastate the Japanese fleet. According to war historians, Japan’s embarrassing defeat in Midway was decisive in the outcome of World War II. Harrelson plays the role of Admiral Chester Nimitz, the commander of the Pacific Fleet while Evans portrays Lieutenant Commander Wade McClusky. Dennis Quaid and Ed Skrein also play major roles in the movie. ‘Midway’ is directed by Roland Emmerich from Wes Tooke’s script. The war film will release on November 8, 2019.

3. In the Tall Grass (2019)

Patrick Wilson joins forces with Laysla De Oliveira and Harrison Gilbertson for the upcoming action thriller ‘In the Tall Grass’ from Netflix. Based on a short story of the same name by Stephen King and his son Joe Hill that was published through Esquire Magazine, the plot follows two siblings who hit the road for a journey across Kansas. When they hear a distant cry of help, the brother and sister pull over and step into the tall grass field. But soon, they find themselves lost in the midst of the grass labyrinth with unimaginable evil breathing down their necks. ‘In the Tall Grass’ is written and directed by Vincenzo Natali, who is best known for ‘Cube,’ ‘Splice’ and ‘Westworld.’ Netflix is expected to release the movie in 2019.

2. The Conjuring 3 (2020)

Patrick Wilson returns with Vera Farmiga to play their iconic characters of real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren in the upcoming third installment of the ‘Conjuring’ horror film franchise. The movie continues the legacy of horror that awakened with the 2014 movie, ‘The Conjuring.’ Even though the plot details are kept under tight wraps, Wilson teased in an interview with Bloody-Disgusting that the film is about a man who uses possession as a reason for murder. No other details are available about the plot and cast. ‘The Conjuring 3’ is directed by Michael Chaves, who is known for ‘The Conjuring’ spin-off ‘The Curse of La Llorona.’ David Leslie Johnson wrote the screenplay for the movie. The film is scheduled for a September 11, 2020 release.

1. Caught Stealing (TBA)

The long-gestating action thriller project ‘Caught Stealing’ has Patrick Wilson attached both as the lead actor and producer. He teams up with Alec Baldwin in the movie, which is an adaptation of the first installment of the ‘Hank Thompson’ novel trilogy by Charlie Huston. Wilson reportedly plays the titular role of Hank Thompson, a basketball prodigy who finds himself on the wrong side of luck and becomes an alcoholic. When a neighbor leaves him with a cat, which is the locus of a bloody mess created by a gang of ruthless Russian monsters, a hitman, a sadistic cop (Baldwin), and two psychotic brothers, Hank’s reckless life changes forever.
