The crime drama, ‘Peaky Blinders‘, written by Steven Knight, can be regarded as one of the best television shows that depict the brutal, lively and thriving life of a British gangster post-WWI. With the series’ first season being aired on the television on BBC Two on September 13, 2013, the series quickly gained popularity among various audiences. Directed by Otto Bathurst, the series carried on to receive many accolades, such as best director(fiction) in the BAFTA Television Crafts awards and the Biarritz Best Male Actor award, that went to Cillian Murphy, its enigmatic and charming star. ‘Peaky Blinders’ has a talented cast that includes some of the best actors in the business. The cast is lead by Cillian Murphy who plays the role of the patriarch figure of the family, Thomas Shelby. Helen McCrory plays the role of their aunt, Polly Gray, the treasurer of the company. Paul Anderson plays the role of the oldest of Shelby siblings and also the most reckless one, Arthur. Joe Cole plays the role of John, the third brother, who meets his end in the fourth season. Sophie Rundle plays the role of Ada Thorne, the only sister of the Shelbys. The series has also had actors like Sam Neill, Annabelle Wallis, Adrien Brody, Charlotte Riley and Noah Taylor.
In a shocking turn of events, the last season saw the demise of Tom Hardy‘s much loved and feared character Alfie Solomons. Hardy had joined the cast in the second season and since then, his appearance has been a magnetic performance, which even takes away the thunder of the great Tommy Shelby. But the arc of Solomons has come to an end now and there are new faces set to join the series. Sam Claflin, Emmet Scanlan, Anya Taylor-Joy, Brian Gleeson, Daryl McCormack, Andrew Koji, Charlene McKenna, Elliot Cowan, Kate Dickie, Neil Maskell and Cosmo Jarvis have joined the cast for the fifth season. Kate Phillips and Aiden Gillen are also set to reprise their roles.
