Born on 1st July 1976, American rapper Algernod Lanier Washington is better known as “Plies”. He is a hip-hop artist who is also the owner of “Big Gates Records”. Before he started his career as a rapper, Plies was a football player. He played in the position of “wide receiver” for the football team from Miami University for two consecutive years of 1996 and 1997. He is a college dropout who founded the record company Big Gates along with his stepbrother. With his contract of two years under Slip-n-Slide Records, the artist launched three albums. His debut album was in the year 2007 with the album named “The Real Testament”. The album comprised of many successful hit singles such as “Shawty” as well as “Hypnotized”. In 2008, Plies released two more albums named “Definition of Real” and “Da REAList”. Later in the year 2010, he released another album named “Goon Affiliated”.

Later in the same year Plies launched a mixtape with the title “You Need People Like Me”. The song “Boosie” from this mixtape was in memory of the rapper ‘Lil Boosie’. In the following year, he released two more mixtapes with the titles “I Fuck with The DJ” and “Aristotle”. Post the mixtape era, he finally announced the release of his fifth album which was titled as “Purple Heart” who first promotional single was released in the month of September 2011. The song was titled “Just (The Tip)” with Jeremih as well as Ludacris as featuring artists.

In the year 2013, another promotional song from the album “Purple Heart” was released for the audience which was titled “F**king or What”. The official music video for this song was released in the month of August the same year. Another promotional video titled “Faithful” was released by the artist that featured Rico Love who is a songwriter and singer.

A single from his fifth album was released in the year 2015 with the title “Find You”. The song featured video appearances from artists such as Lil Wayne and K Camp. In the same year, Plies released the song titled “Dayum!”. This song was addressed to the controversy about the rapper getting attacked while on stage. Further, the artist released a new mixtape with the title “Aint No Mixtape Bih” followed by a part two for the same later in the year.

In his career span, the rapper has collaborated with numerous artists from the music industry such as Akon, T-Pain, Ashanti, Jamie Foxx, Lil Wayne, Keri Hilson, Trick Daddy, Young Dolph, Fat Joe, Rick Ross, Ace Hood, Lil Boosie, Gucci Mane, Ludacris, Usher, Jeremih, Slim Thug, Nelly, DJ Khaled, Chris Brown and many others. He has been nominated for three BET Hip-Hop Awards, four Ozone Awards (won one) and one Grammy Award.
