‘Plunderer’ centers on a young girl named Hina who lives in a post-apocalyptic world. Every person in this world has a unique number marked on their bodies and this number is a representation of some very important aspects of their respective lives. For Hina, her number represents the number of kilometers she has walked in her entire lifetime. The world is a very unfair place where the ones with a higher number impose their rule on the ones with lower numbers. And anyone whose number falls back to zero is dragged down to the Abyss where he/she is expected to spend the rest of their lives in complete darkness.
Hina’s peaceful and protective life under her mother’s shadow comes to an end when her mother’s number falls back to zero and she is taken away to the Abyss. But before leaving, she asks Hina to look for the Legendary Ace and also gives her an Orb that contains 10,000 numbers. Hina then embarks on a mission to fulfill her mother’s last wishes. After frantically searching for the Ace for many years, she runs into Licht. After they part ways, Hina meets a sergeant major who dupes her into believing that he is the Ace. When he tries to molest her, Hina reveals her Orb and orders him to leave her alone. He then dupes her and steals all of her counts, just leaving her with one single number.
This is when Licht comes to her rescue and reveals his own number. It turns out that he is the Legendary Ace and possesses a number count that goes down all the way to negative 999. He then shows his sword which has the number 5700 printed on, revealing that he has killed 5700 enemies. The sergeant is then forced to return Hina’s numbers. With Licht by her side now, no one can stop Hina.
