‘Preacher’ is an American supernatural television series that airs on AMC. Developed by Sam Catlin, Evan Goldberg, and the hilarious Seth Rogen, the show is based on the Preacher comic book series created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon and published by DC Comics under its Vertigo imprint.
On November 16, 2013, AMC announced that it was developing a television series based on the DC Comics series Preacher. A few months later, on February 6, 2014, AMC ordered a pilot script, which was written by Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen and had Sam Catlin as the showrunner (it should be noted here that Catlin was the writer of the legendary AMC show ‘Breaking Bad’). At the end of the year, AMC ordered that pilot the be filmed, and another year later, on September 9, 2015, AMC picked the show up for a full season.
Subsequently, on May 22, 2016, Season 1 of ‘Preacher’, consisting of 10 episodes, premiered, and it received great praise from television critics and viewers alike. Unsurprisingly, on June 29, 2016, AMC renewed the show for a 13-episode Season 2, which premiered a year later on June 25, 2017. Season 2 received even more critical acclaim from Season 1, prompting AMC to renew the show again for 10-episode third season. Season 3 then premiered on June 24, 2018, and soon became the most critically acclaimed season of the show.
With fans and critics all clamoring for another season, AMC again renewed the show for a fourth season, which is slated to air in 2019. While that’s great news for fans of the show, the bad news is that AMC has also confirmed that Season 4 will be the last season of ‘Preacher’. Here’s everything you need to know about its next season.
Preacher Cast: Who is in it?
Being a comic book adaptation, ‘Preacher’ has quite a long list of cast members, both main and recurring.
In the show, Dominic Cooper plays the role of the protagonist Jesse Custer, a small-town preacher with a criminal record. However, Custer’s life is upended when he discovers that he has superpowers and can make anyone do as he wishes. Ruth Negga, meanwhile, plays Jesse’s volatile girlfriend, Tulip O’Hara. Joining Jesse and Tulip in their rather unusual quest is a vice-loving Irish vampire called Cassidy, who is played by Joseph Gilgun. Lucy Griffiths plays Emily Woodrow, Jesse’s right-hand (wo)man.
