The Deuce Season 3: Premiere Date, Cast, Trailer, Spoilers & News

HBO is known to release at least one ambitious and highly anticipated series every fall. Last year it was The Deuce which is based on the rise of the porn industry and the drug epidemic in New York especially around Times Square in the 1970s. It opened to very high critical acclaim and was loved by the audience. It very well looks to be on a path to become a long-running drama with the likes of “The Sopranos”, “True Blood” and of course “Game of Thrones”. The pilot of the series was available on demand on August 25, 2017, and the series premiered on September 10, 2017. The show is created by David Simon and George Pelecanos.

The Deuce Season 3 Cast: Who’s in it?

The original cast from the first season returned for the second season. In the third season as well, James Franco will be back as twins Frankie and Vincent Martino and Maggie Gyllenhaal as Candy, the Times Square street prostitute. Other cast members include George Akinnagbe, Chris Bauer, Gary Carr, Chris Coy, Dominique Fishback, Margarita Levieva, and others who will be back for the second season. It was reported that casting for twins of three ages namely 4,8 and 15 was done and we got to see younger versions of Frankie and Vincent in the second season and will likely see them again in the third season. No details have been released about any new addition to the main cast as of now and everything is being kept under wraps to protect any information from leaking. But it seems there won’t be any new major character in the third season or so we think now.

The Deuce Season 3 Plot: What is it about?

In season 2, Candy will continue with her interest in the porn industry and slowly start getting a stronghold of it. Vincent will try to expand his business and work with Rudy, with Frankie gambling away the money. With the casting of younger versions of James Franco, it is obvious that the season will have flashbacks to the childhood and teenage years of the two brothers.

The second was even better than the first one and it will be very exciting to see what new turns the story might take with David Simon, the man behind “The Wire” at its helm. Season 2 covered Manhattan from 1971 to 1977 and it is expected from season 3 to glorify the mid-’80s.

At this moment not much is known about the plot of the third season as everything is being kept inside closed rooms. But we can infer some of the plot points from the first season and the style of David Simon who has a knack for unfolding things slowly and make you long for closure as can be seen in “The Wire”. The rise of the porn industry into a billion dollar business across New York’s Time Square and its subsequent legalization will be explored further in the upcoming season. We will update this section as soon as new information about the show emerges.

The Deuce Season 3 Release Date: When will it premiere?

Immediately after the premiere of the first season, it was renewed for a second season. The future of the show was in trouble after sexual harassment allegations against James Franco by five women in January and HBO was being asked to drop Franco as the lead. But showrunner David Simon released a statement to Variety in February that Franco will return for the second season. The filming for the second season began in late-February. The second season premiered on September 2, 2018, on HBO. Now, we know that the third season which will also be the final season for The Deuce has been renewed but no premiere date has been confirmed. David Simon and George Pellecanos are sticking to their original three-season plan as Simon confirmed on his Twitter account:

“We’re always conjuring the last scene before we write the first. So much the better when we work for people who allow us to consistently plan, arc and execute as intended. Thanks, @HBO, for the third and final season renewal and the chance for #thedeuce to tell its full story.”
