In the past, Lerche Studio has given us memorable anime shows like ‘Given‘ and even some of its new creations like ‘Toilet-bound Hanako-kun‘ are doing fairly well. So if not anything else, one can expect the Studio to give some well-animated shows that stay loyal to their source in terms of both animation style and quality. As expected, the Studio does the same with ‘Radiant’ by giving it a bright and vibrant color palette along with a little emphasis on all the cute elements of the series.
When it comes to its core themes and key story elements, ‘Radiant’ has a lot of similarities with other well-known shounen anime, but it is enjoyable nonetheless. So if you like watching child-friendly lighthearted anime shows, you should certainly check this one out. And for those who have already watched its first two seasons, here’s everything you need to know about its renewal.
Radiant Season 3 Release Date: When will it premiere?
Based on French “Manfra” of the same name, which has been written and illustrated by Tony Valente, ‘Radiant’ season 1 premiered on October 6, 2018, and with a total of 21 episodes, it finished airing on February 23, 2019. Soon after this, Lerche Studio also released a second season of the anime which aired from October 2, 2019 to February 26, 2020. Now the first season of the anime adapts close to four volumes and 28 chapters of the original source with a few major changes here and there. The second season picks up exactly where the first one left and begins by adapting the 5th volume.
The last few episodes of the second season cover the 10th volume of the Manfra and the season finishes close to 75 chapters of its source. So the next season will probably pick up from the 11th volume. Unfortunately, the original Manfra, which started its publication back in 2013, only has 13 volumes so far. So clearly, as of now, the creators of the anime do not have enough content for a whole new season. However, if we consider the previous publishing pattern of the Manfra, Tony Valente has been able to publish at least 2 volumes of it every year.
So by the end of 2020, we can expect the source to have 2 new volumes. In an interview at the Angoulême International Comics Festival, Tony Valente also stated: “My main concerns are for the series to carry on as well as possible for as long as possible, for me to enjoy it, for my readers to enjoy it, and for me to carry on together with my readers. Apart from that, I cannot have any concrete expectations. I mean, we can go jump in the lake before we see anything related to Radiant apart from mugs and chopsticks… But regardless, we’ll see more volumes, that’s for sure.” This makes it pretty obvious that ‘Radiant’ is not ending anytime soon.
It is also possible that Lerche Studio might include a few additional filler arcs just to make up for the lack of content. Even so, it seems more likely that the creators of the anime will wait a little longer for Valente to publish at least two more volumes of the Manfra before they start working on a whole new season. Going by this logic, Radiant season 3 might release sometime in early 2021.
On his official Instagram, the mangaka, Tony Valente, posted some visuals of the 13th volume of the Manfra. You can check it out below:
