How did Rahm Emanuel earn his money and wealth?
Rahm Emanuel was born in 1959. He is an American politician, who is the 44th and current mayor of Chicago and also the 44th in the history of mayors. Emanuel was elected in 2011 and re-elected in 2015. Initially working as a Democratic politician, Emanuel was then appointed for Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential campaign as the director of the finance committee. He joined the administration of Clinton in 1993, where he worked as the assistant of the president in the matters of political affairs and as the senior advisor for strategy and policy before resigning from the position, in 1998.
In 2002, Emanuel fought and grabbed a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives which was left by Rod Blagojevich, who resigned in order to become the governor of Illinois. In 2010, Emanuel resigned as chief of staff to elect for the candidate in the mayoral election of Chicago in 2011. Emanuel’s candidacy was initially rejected by the Illinois First District Appellate Court, Because of questions over his eligibility to run for mayor, though finally he found eligible to run for the contest and was allowed to elect for the position.
Emanuel won the election with 55% more votes. Although Emanuel failed to achieve the majority in the mayoral election held in February 2015, he defeated Jesús “Chuy” García, a Cook County board commissioner, in the following runoff election in April 2015. He was deeply affected by sharp close criticism of his decision to close 50 public schools in Latino and black neighborhoods and for his setting up of red light cameras, together with annoyance at the high level of gun violence on the roads. On the other hand, he had an upper hand of the business community and most elements of the Democratic party.
Emanuel married Amy Merritt Rule in 1994. Both had a son and two daughters. The family resides near the Ravenswood on Chicago’s north side. Amy Merritt Rule was converted to Judaism just before her wedding with Emanuel.
By July 2017, Emanuel was reported to have raised $1.6 million towards a possible run for a third term in a row in the 2019 election, and although his approval ratings had not improved to 50%, he had made secure progress in improving his political support. In 2017, He announced he was fighting for a third term in October 2017.
