Most experienced anime viewers are constantly trying to look for anime shows that offer something unique and stand out in the crowd of fantasy shows that are all very similar to one another. Despite having many similarities with other fantasy thrillers, ‘Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World -‘ is one anime that has managed to set itself apart with its morbidly unique twists and turns.

Using the good old ‘Groundhog Day‘ “do-over” time travel trope, the anime takes you on an unforgettable adventure that leaves you craving for more. So, if you have been eagerly waiting for its second season, read on ahead to know all about it.

Re: ZERO Season 2 Release Date: When will it premiere?

The first season of ‘Re: ZERO -Starting Life in Another World -‘ premiered on  April 4, 2016, and with a total of 25 episodes, it finished airing on September 19, 2016. This was then followed by a movie prequel, titled ‘Re:ZERO: Starting Life in Another World – Frozen Bonds,’ which premiered on November 8, 2019. Soon after its release, it was received really well by the anime community and it was also nominated as the “Anime of the Year” at the 2016 Crunchyroll Anime Awards. In the same year, it also became the most viewed anime on the platform, beating other popular shows like ‘Yuri on Ice.’

So, it comes as no surprise that after waiting for almost four long years, its second season is finally here. According to the official website of the anime, ‘Re: ZERO -Starting Life in Another World -‘ Season 2 is scheduled to release sometime in July 2020. Since the first season was a two-cour anime with 25 episodes we can expect the second season to follow a similar format. The next arc of its storyline also has quite a lot of content, thus, for obvious reasons, the creators will mostly stick to the two-cour format to ensure that its pacing matches the source.

Here’s an updated key visual of the anime which was released by Crunchyroll:

The second season is again being directed by Masaharu Watanabe (‘Granbelm‘, ‘Akame ga Kill‘) and animated by White Fox Studio (‘Steins; Gate‘, ‘Goblin Slayer‘). Its script has been penned down by Masahiro Yokotani and its music is being composed by Kenichiro Suehiro. Its opening song, titled “Realize”, has been created by Konomi Suzuki, who also performed the OP of season 1 and its ending song, “Memento”, is performed by singer Nonoc, whose music has been previously used in the ‘Re: Zero’ OVAs.
