How did Ric Flair earn his money and wealth?

Ric Flair, real name Richard Morgan Fliehr, was born on 25 February 1949 in Memphis, Tennessee to Luther and Olive Phillips. He was later adopted by the couple Richard Reid Fliehr and Kathleen Virginia Kinsmiller. Ric was raised in Edina, Minnesota where he went to Wayland Academy. He was very active in sports while in school and had a keen interest in wrestling, football, and track. He later enrolled in the University of Minnesota but later took a drop after completing his freshman year. Olympic weightlifter, Ken Patera introduced Ric to Verne Gagne, the American Wrestling Association (AWA) promoter after which Ric underwent training for wrestling under at AWA.

Ric Flair is not only an American former professional wrestler but is also a professional wrestling manager. In the year 1972, Ric played his first match in Wisconsin which ended in a 10-minute draw. Flair dropped out of AWA in the year 1974 and joined National Wrestling Alliance (NWA).  He grabbed his first singles titles in February 1975 after defeating Paul Jones. In October 1975, the plane in which Ric traveled along other wrestlers crash, leaving him with a back injury. He underwent several physical therapy sessions and finally was back to the ring within a year. Upon his return, Ric wrestled with Wahoo McDaniel in February 1976. He won the ‘NWA United States Heavyweight Championship’ in July 1977 after defeating Bobo Brazil.

In September 1981, Ric beat Dusty Rhodes and won his first ever ‘NWA World Heavyweight Championship.’ He went on to hold the championship belt for more than 2 years before losing it to Dusty Rhodes in July 1986. Ric later joined the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in the year 1991 and initially challenged WWF stars like Hulk Hogan and Roddy Piper. He beat 29 other wrestlers in the Royal Rumble match and won his first ever WWF Championship in January 1992. However, he lost the championship to Bret Hart in October 1992. In February 1993, Ric returned back to the WCW as a new face of the brand. He beat Barry Windham at Bleach Blast and won NWA World Heavyweight Championship. However, he could not keep the belt for a long period as WCW left NWA in September 1993.

Ric became the ‘New World Order’ in late 1996 and held the title throughout 1997. During 2000, Ric won the WCW World Championship twice.  He later went on to join ‘Evolution’ in the year 2003 and won the World Tag Team Championship two times in 2003 and 2004.

Ric retired from wrestling in the year 2008, after losing to Shawn Micheals at the WrestleMania XXIV but still continues to make part-time appearances in WWE. Later, Roc became the GM of Monday Night Raw, where he booked matches.
