Richard Petty Facts:

Richard Petty is a champion NASCAR driver who was nicknamed “The King” for his record setting Daytona 500 and NASCAR championship wins.

With over 200 victories, he started more races, won more races, and made more money than any stock-car driver in history.

In 1995, Petty moved to the television broadcast booth joining CBS as a color commentator immediately following his retirement, but his career in television did not last long.

Petty promised his mother not to accept alcohol sponsorship.

After retirement, Petty purchased a 90 acres (36 ha) ranch south of Jackson, Wyoming.
