How did Robert Plant earn his money and wealth?
Robert Plant is a singer, songwriter as well as a musician who is known as the lead singer of the legendary rock band “Led Zeppelin”. Robert Plant was named Robert Anthony Plant and was born on August 20, 1948, in West Bromwich, Staffordshire, England. While he grew up in Kidderminster he started developing an interest in singing and rock and roll music. They have always interested him since he was a young boy. He later developed a passion for the blues and cites Robert Johnson and Willie Dixon as his inspirations. He quit school and moved out of his home and moved around with different bands from where he began his musical journey and education. While he was still trying to make a name of himself in the music industry, Plant took up jobs with Wimpey, a construction company in Birmingham. He would lay tarmac on the roads. He also worked at Woolworth’s in Halesowen.
Plant met guitarist Jimmy Page in 1968 and joined him in his band. They also included in the band other members like John Bonham as drummer and John Paul Jones as the studio musician. They called themselves “New Yardbirds” but changed it to “Led Zeppelin”. They released their eponymous debut album which became a hit in 1969. They released many albums through the years: Lep Zeppelin I, Lep Zeppelin II, Lep Zeppelin III which included their greatest hit “Stairway to Heaven” and Lep Zeppelin IV. The band started their own record label “Swan Song” in 1974-75.
Plant while singing with Lep Zeppelin created a “rock god” or “god of rock and roll” stage persona with his long blond hair and bare-chested appearance. He was very active on stage and was often seen jumping, dancing, snapping his fingers, skipping or clapping his hands. Such was his charisma that he was awarded “Chest O Rama” by readers of Rock Scene Magazine who decided that he had the best chest in rock.
Plant embarked on a solo career after Led Zeppelin was disbanded after the death of their drummer, John Bonham. He released “Pictures at Eleven” in 1982 and “The Principle of Moments” in 1983. He has released 11 studio albums and has collaborated with other musicians such as Alison Krauss, Afro Celt Sound System, and Fats Domino.
Plant married Maureen Wilson with whom he had three children: daughter Carmen and sons Karmac and Logan. He also had a son Jesse Lee with the sister of his wife.
