How did Robin Williams earn his money and wealth?

Born as Robin McLaurin William on July 21, 1951, Robin Williams was an American comedian and actor. He was born in Chicago, Illinois to Robert Fitzgerald Williams and Laurie McLaurin. His father was a senior executive in Ford Motor Company’s Lincoln-Mercury Division and mother was a former model from Jackson, Mississippi. He was in the Episcopal Church as his father belonged to it. Williams once mentioned in one of his television interviews that he tried to make her laugh to gain attention and hence his mother had an earlier influence for his sense of humor.

During his childhood, the family’s maid was his main companion since his father traveled frequently for work and his mother also worked. Before joining at Deer Path Junior High School, he went to Gorton Elementary School. Although his friends at school recall him being very funny, he was a very shy child and only overcame his shyness after getting involved with his high school drama department. Then Robin Williams went on to get enrolled at Claremont Men’s College in Claremont, California, to study political science but eventually dropped out to pursue acting. Then further he studied theatre in a community college; the College of Marinin Kentfield, California. College of Marin’s drama professor James Dun once even mentioned that Robin was going to be something special. Then on a full scholarship, Williams went to the Juilliard School in New York City in the year 1973 and further got accepted by John Houseman into the Advanced Program at the school.

In mid- the 1970s, Williams began his career doing stand-up comedy shows and did his first performance at a comedy club in San Francisco. In 1978, Williams was cast by Garry Marshall as the alien Mork in an episode”My Favorite Orkan” for the TV series Happy Days. The TV network executives along with the cast and crew of the show were impressed at Williams’ performance. Eventually, Williams got his own spin-off show Mork& Mindy and the show became so successful that Williams appeared on the cover of Time magazine. He got his first major role in the year 1980 as the title character in the film “Popeye”.  Further, in the year 1987, Williams earned his first nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actor for the film “Good Morning, Vietnam”.

Williams got an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for “Good Will Hunting” in the year 1997. Then he went on acting in many great movies such as “Hook”, “The Fisher King” “Mrs. Doubtfire”  and “Jumanji” and won many Emmy Awards and Golden Globe Awards. Many in the entertainment industry considered him as a “National Treasure” and his performances influenced many other actors both in and out of the film industry.

On August 11, 2014, he was found dead at his home in Paradise Cay, California. He committed suicide by hanging himself and it was said that depression, anxiety, and paranoia might have been the cause.
