Ronald William Howard was born on March 1, 1954, in Duncan, Oklahoma, the U.S. and is the elder son of mother Jean Speegle Howard who was an actress, and father Rance Howard who was a director, writer as well as an actor. He is a 64-year-old American actor and also a filmmaker. As of 2018, Ron Howard’s net worth is $160 million.

His family lived in Hollywood for at least three years and then moved to Burbank. Ron did his schooling from John Burroughs High School and for further studies, he joined the  University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts but did not complete his graduation. He started his film career at an early age of 5, in the year 1959 with a role in ‘ The Journey’ and also appeared in various episodes of different television works like in the episode “Child Lost” of The DuPont Show with June Allyson, episode “Walking Distance” of  The Twilight Zone. He is also seen as Stewart in a few episodes of the first season of  ‘Dennis the Menace’ and also in a few episodes of first and second seasons of “The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis.” The next year in 1960 he is seen as Opie Taylor in The Andy Griffith Show, he remained very close to Griffith until his death in the year 2012.

In 1962, he appeared in the film version of ‘The Music Man and the next year in ‘The Courtship of Eddie’s Father’. He also appeared in one of the episodes of the show ‘The Bold Ones’. He is also seen in the film ‘American Graffiti’ in 1973, ‘The Shootist’ in 1976, ‘Return to Mayberry’ and lots more. In the year 1977, he made his directing debut with a low-budget comedy/ action film by the name “Grand Theft Auto” and then on he went on to direct many such TV movies. He got a big break in the year 1982 with the direction of the movie “Night Shift”, a comedy movie which stars Michael Keaton, Shelley Long, and Henry Winkler. His film “ Frost/Nixon” was showcased at the London Film Festival in October 2008.

He received the Extraordinary Contribution to Filmmaking Award at Austin Film Festival’s 2009. He is currently the co-chairman along with Brian Gazer of “ Imagine Entertainment” which is a film and television production company and has produced several movies which include Friday Night Lights, 8 Mile, and Inside Deep Throat. In the same year, he also appeared in Jamie Foxx’s music video called “Blame It”

He is husband to Cheryl Alley since 1975 and from the marriage, they have four children: daughters Bryce Dallas Howard, Jocelyn Carlyle and Paige Howard- twins and son Reed Cross.
