How did Rush Limbaugh earn his money and wealth?

Rush Hudson Limbaugh III is an American radio talk show host. He began his career in radio when he was only a teenager in 1967. After dropping out of college in 1972, he became a disc jockey on WIXZ. After struggling for finding a good job in radio, he finally left radio and went to work with the Kansas City Royals in 1979 as director of promotions. He couldn’t stay away from the radio for long and returned to host a show on KFBK in 1984. In 1988 Rush moved to New York to host his own National Radio Show which went on for years, even after he moved to Florida. He was also a pro football commentator for a while and was let go because of some controversial comments. Rush Limbaugh has maintained his popularity over the years with his show “The Rush Limbaugh Show”, which has been on the air since 1988 and is considered to have paved the road for many other conservative talk radio programmes. Its popularity can be gleaned from the fact that it is broadcasted worldwide.

In 2008 he became the highest-paid broadcaster on terrestrial radio after signing a $400 million, eight-year contract with Clear Channel Communications. Limbaugh also has a television show from 1992 through 1996, which was focused on discussing many of the issues discussed on his radio show.

He has received many awards over the years which include Marconi Radio Award for Syndicated Radio Personality of the Year in 2014, and was included in the hall of fame for “National Radio Hall of Fame” and “National Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame”. He was also inducted into the “Hall of Famous Missourians”.  A bronze bust of Limbaugh is also on display in the Missouri State Capitol building in Jefferson City.

Rush Limbaugh has written many books over the years, which are “The Way Things Ought to Be” in 1992, “See, I Told You So” in 1993, “Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims” in 2013, “Rush Revere and the First Patriots” in 2014, “Rush Revere and the American Revolution” in 2014,  “Rush Revere and the Star-Spangled Banner “ in 2015, and finally “Rush Revere and the Presidency “ in 2016.

Rush Limbaugh gained popularity due to his controversial views and statements throughout the years. He has been accused of distorting facts to advance his political agenda and also has been criticised by the Environmental Defence Fund.
