The team of producers includes Merri Howard, Scott Collins, Matt Byrne, Heather Mitchell, Paul William Davies and Ramaala Mohamed. Judy Smith also serves as the co-executive producer. She is the founder of her own crisis management firm, and it is she who served as the inspiration for the show as well as the framing of the central character. ‘Scandal’ is the winner of a Peabody Award, NAACP Image Awards and Gracie Awards. It has also been a constant presence at the Primetime Emmy Awards and People’s Choice Awards.

Scandal Plot: What is it about?

Scandal’s basic storyline revolves around the life of Olivia Pope and her staff whose primary aim is to manage the crisis faced by a certain organization. Olivia Pope, formerly employed by the President of the United States of America, has the job of not allowing any unexpected event to ruin the public image of her clients. She mainly deals in political circles and the primary function of her firm is to keep their intimate secrets under the wraps.

Apart from that, the focus lies heavily on the White House staff. Even though damage control is what she does for a living, Olivia has a hard time managing the crises of her personal life. The main scandal is her love life, where she is in a complicated relationship with Fitzgerald Grant III, who is the President! The series also focuses on the “not so easy” lives of her staff which include Abby Whelan, a former White House Press Secretary and Chief of Staff; Quinn Perkins, an ambitious woman who later becomes the head of the firm; and Huck, a former agent of an espionage service, B613. The political upheaval at the White House becomes a major factor that influences the workings of Olivia Pope’s firm.

The first season centres on the lives of the members of Olivia’s team and the relationship she shares with Fitz. It also highlights the mystery that surrounds Amanda Turner’s involvement with the White House. The second season becomes more eye-catching and gripping as it starts getting into exciting topics like finding the person who is beginning to leak and give out confidential information about the White House, alongside the assassination attempt on Fitz’s life.

From here on, the series picks up pace, the script gets tighter, the relationships of the characters become more scandalous and hence, the show becomes more entertaining. Olivia’s life takes many twists and turns. Her relationship with the President becomes common knowledge and her firm goes through some tough times. By the final season, Olivia secures the job of Cheif of Staff for President Mellie Grant and takes command of B613. Meanwhile, Quinn Perkins takes over the job as the head of the firm, which she renames to Quinn Perkins and Associates. The final season also has a crossover with ‘How to Get Away with Murder’.

Scandal Season 8 Release Date: Will it Happen?

‘Scandal’ season 7 premiered on October 5, 2017. The final season ended on a high note as rave reviews poured in for it. The ratings were already strong for it and the act of finishing the show on critical time and not dragging it endlessly was appreciated. For her guest performance, Viola Davis was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award. When it was declared that the show wouldn’t be returning for the eighth season, Rhimes said, “Deciding how to end a show is easy. Deciding when to finish is quite simple when the end date is years away. But actually going through with it? Actually standing up to say: ‘This is it?’ Not so much. So, next year we are going all out. Leaving nothing on the table. Creating this world in celebration. We are going to handle the end the way we like to handle the important things in our Scandal family: all together, white hats on, gladiators running full speed over a cliff.”

Since the seventh season was its last, ‘Scandal’ officially stands canceled. Though, fans should not lose all their hopes. There’s still a possibility that some other network picks up the show and either reboots it or continues the story from where the show ended. If that happens, we will update you about Scandal season 8 release date.
