See Season 2: Everything We Know

‘See’ is a sci-fi drama series that is set in a dystopian world, where humans no longer have the sense of sight. A deadly virus outbreak decimates most of the Earth’s population, and the ones – less than two million people – that make it out alive are rendered blind. The trait passes through generations, and humankind has adapted new ways to interact, build, hunt, and survive. When Baba Voss and his partner Maghra discover that their twins are born with the mythic ability to see, they must protect his tribe against those hungry for power who want the twins destroyed.

The series is written and created by Steven Knight (‘Peaky Blinders’) and helmed by Francis Lawrence (‘The Hunger Games’). ‘See’ proved to be immensely popular among its audiences, and luckily for fans, Apple confirmed that we would be getting another season of the show. Here’s everything we know about ‘See’ season 2!

See Season 2 Release Date

‘See’ season 1 debuted on November 1, 2019, on Apple TV+, and concluded with its eighth episode on December 6, 2019. The show was part of the first wave of original shows that dropped on the streamer, and just like its peers – ‘The Morning Show’, ‘Dickinson’, and ‘For All Mankind’ –, it earned an early renewal for a season 2.

The filming for its sophomore season started in February 2020, but shortly after, in March 2020, the production came to a halt due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis. However, the show has reportedly resumed filming in October 2020 while adhering to the necessary health and safety protocols. If all goes well, fans can expect season 2 to premiere sometime in early 2021.

See Season 2 Cast: Who is in it?

The principal cast members are expected to come back for season 2. This includes Jason Momoa as Baba Voss, Hera Hilmarsdottir as Maghra, Alfre Woodard as Paris, Nesta Cooper as Haniwa, Archie Madekwe as Kofun, Sylvia Hoeks as Queen Kane, Franz Drameh as Boots, Christian Camargo as Tamacti Jun, and Joshua Henry as Jerlamarel.

Two new faces are confirmed to appear in season 2. Adrian Paul (‘Arrow,’ ‘Highlander’) will play Lord Harlan – the ruler of the strongest city in the kingdom. Dave Bautista has also joined the cast for its season 2 in a yet-unknown role.

See Season 2 Plot: What can it be About?

The end of season 1 sets up for some intriguing plotlines that will be explored in season 2. Haniwa and Kofun finally meet their biological father, Jerlamarel, but as expected, he soon reveals himself to be a life-threat to the twins. On the other hand, Maghra makes Queen Kane an offer that she can either hand over her crown or have it taken from her, which backfires and results in Tamacti Jun getting fatally stabbed by Kane.

Baba comes to the twins’ rescue and gets embroiled in a prolonged battle with Jerlamarel that ultimately leads to Baba poking Jerlamarel’s eyes out. In a massive twist, it is also revealed that the general who wants Kofun and Haniwa is none other than Edo Voss, Baba’s brother. The final moments of season 1 finale show Tamacti Jun’s body lying around, insinuating that he may not be dead after all. As for Baba, Kofun, and Paris, they are nearby the towering metropolis of Trivantes, where Haniwa is being held.

The season 1 finale foreshadows the bombshell of a battle that lies ahead. And since Jerlamarel is only blind and not dead, it stands to reason he’ll emerge as another villainous figure intent on finding and destroying Baba Voss’ family as we head into season 2. The upcoming season might also delve into the reasons behind why Baba’s brother wants Haniwa so badly. Mainly, it will zero in on Baba Voss trying to save his daughter, Haniwa, as well as, hopefully, Tamacti Jun coming back alive.
