Snow White with the Red Hair Season 3: Premiere Date, Characters, Plot

Snow White with the Red Hair (also known as Akagami no Shirayuki-hime in Japanese) is a Japanese fantasy romance anime television series which is based on a manga of the same name. Written and illustrated by Sorata Akizuki, the manga series was first published on August 10, 2006. Almost a decade after its initial publication, the manga was picked up for an anime television series, and Season 1 of Snow White with the Red Hair premiered on July 7, 2015. It was received well by fans of the manga and newcomers alike and unsurprisingly was renewed for a second season. Subsequently, less than a year later, Season 2 of the show premiered on January 12, 2016, and since then, fans of the show and the manga are waiting for news on a third season. Here’s everything we know about the prospects of Season 3 thus far.

Snow White with the Red Hair Season 3 Release Date: When will it premiere?

Snow White with the Red Hair season 2 premiered on January 12, 2016, and saw its finale being aired on March 29, 2016. Although a significant amount of time has passed since then, a third season of the show is yet to be confirmed.

That being said, there’s no reason to be alarmed just yet. Bones, the studio which produces Snow White with the Red Hair, has been busy with other anime shows such as Mob Psycho 100 of late, and that is probably the reason why Snow White with the Red Hair Season 3 is being delayed. Everything said and done, since Season 2 was not a conclusion to Zen and Shirayuki’s love story, and a third season is expected to wrap up the story. If things go well, Snow White with the Red Hair season 3 release date could be sometime in 2021. We’re keeping our ears open for news on Season 3, and we’ll update this section as soon as we hear more.

Snow White with the Red Hair Plot:

The events in the show take place in a fictional land, and is centered around characters from two fictional countries – Tanbarun and Clarines.

The plot of the show revolves around a cheerful girl called Shirayuki, who works as a herbalist at a local apothecary in the country of Tanbarun. While Shirayuki wants to live out her life in peace, her unique and beautiful red hair draws unwarranted attention from men, and eventually it manages to attract the attention of Tanbarun’s vain prince, Raji Shenazard. Determined to possess Shirayuki, Prince Raji demands that she become his concubine, and Shirayuki is unable to refuse, since the Prince’s command is a royal decree.

Yet, Shirayuki has no intention of spending her life in servitude of Prince Raji, and being the strong-willed woman that she is, Shirayuki chops off most of her hair to avoid attention and tries to flee Tanbarun. When she attempts to flee and heads into a deep forest, she encounters a young man called Zen Wistalia, who appears to have been poisoned by taking a bite out of a poisoned apple sent by Prince Raji to capture Shirayuki. However, Shirayuki, using her knowledge as a herbalist, makes expert use of herbs at her disposal and manages to cure Zen. As it happens, Zen is the second prince of the neighboring country of Clarines, and with the help of his two friends, Kiki and Mitsuhide, Zen manages to sneak Shirayuki out on Tanbarun into his own country.

Determined to repay the debt to Zen and his friends, Shirayuki then sets it upon herself to become a court herbalist in Clarines, and she manages to do so after clearing an exam. As the show progresses, it tracks Shirayuki’s attempts to make a new life in Clarines, and Zen’s attempts to become a man worthy of being a prince.

Later in the show, Shirayuki and Zen develop romantic feelings for each other, and they seem to be destined for a happy ending. However, trouble befalls the duo when Zen’s older brother, Crown Prince Izana, is invited to Tanbarun by Prince Raji for a diplomatic summit. Being a herbalist at the royal court of Clarines, Shirayuki is also obligated to attend the summit, and has to be present in Prince Raji’s court for seven long days. While she fears that Prince Raji will recognize her, she also has to contend with a mysterious boy called Kazuki, who is hell bent on seeking her out for reasons unknown.
