Snowfall Season 3: Release Date, Cast, Trailer, Spoilers & News

It is almost a very bold move: putting on a new show with relatively unknown actors at the same time when big shows are coming back on the air — Game of Thrones, Ray Donovan, Ballers, etc.! But Snowfall stands out. Not because it’s better — those shows are great, and this is just starting out — but because it has a degree of originality to it; in fact, you can almost smell the authenticity from the outset.

The show was co-created by Oscar and Emmy-nominated writer and director John Singleton. The series premiered on July 5, 2017, by the FX network. It’s one of those that keep you excited to see the next episode. This show is excellent for those who understand the complexities and disparities of the drug trade. Snowfall is violent and honest. It gives off the same feel as the original Miami Vice when Crocket and Tubbs walked a fine line between the law and the dark side of the drug world. And while nothing is as good as Breaking Bad, Snowfall certainly gives Southland a run for its money.

Snowfall Season 2 Cast: Who’s in it?

The show stars newcomer Damson Idris as Franklin Saint. As a young entrepreneur, Franklin attempts to use crack dealing as a way to power and to get money for himself and his family. Snowfall also follows Gustavo “El Oso” Zapata (Sergio Peris-Mencheta), a wrestler who gets involved with a power struggle within a crime family; Lucia Villanueva (Emily Rios), the daughter of a Mexican crime lord, who hopes to make a name for herself and get out from under her father’s thumb; and Teddy McDonald (Carter Hudson), a sketchy CIA operative who begins an off-book operation to fund the Nicaraguan Contras and has a dark past.

Snowfall Season 2 Plot: What is it about?

The series starts off in an early 1980s setting, just on the cusp on the rise of crack cocaine, which becomes an insidious urban epidemic, exponentially accelerating urban blight. Snowfall began by showing the disconnect between the have and have-nots, and the solutions provided to close that gap. Reality can be very ugly, and be the basis for an ugly truth, that crack/cocaine stole the hopes and dreams of a society.

Season 1 took its time developing this particular period of recent Los Angeles history, as well as the characters. With three main storylines to follow, it’s a difficult balance to strike. And the team behind the series are going to keep the momentum up in Season 2. Snowfall is a one-hour drama set against the infancy of the crack cocaine epidemic and its ultimate radical impact on the culture as we know it. The story follows numerous characters on a violent collision course. Ultimately, this tells a relatively true story, but not centred around specific real life characters, and has a flexible feel to the actual situation back then, but that’s drama and it does work out without you thinking, that’s just not plausible.

Snowfall Season 3 Release Date: When will it premiere?

The second season of Snowfall had been announced to be renewed in August 2017 even as the first season was on air. Season 2 went on to premiere on July 19, 2018 on FX. With Season 2 over, we still don’t have any update on the renewal of its third season. The ratings seem to have dipped during the course of the second season but a similar trend was visible even with the first season. So, this doesn’t necessarily mean Snowfall won’t be returning for another season but we will have to wait to find out. We will update this section when there is further news on the subject.
