‘Star Wars’, ‘Mad Max’ Among AFI’s Best Movies of the Year

American Film Institute (AFI), one of the most prestigious movie-related organizations, declared its annual best of the year list today. Most of the names were on the expected lines. Though the exclusion of ‘Brooklyn’, ‘The Revenant’ and ‘Steve Jobs’ — all of them, easily among the best — was a little surprising. Many regard AFI list as harbinger to Oscar Best Picture nomination, but historically we have seen not all movies from the AFI list make the Oscars. Usually, anywhere between two to five films miss the mark.

AFI also declared best TV shows of the year. Again, nothing out of ordinary. Though, I am glad to see names like ‘Mr. Robot’, ‘Master of None’ and ‘Fargo’ on the list. Full list below:
