How did Steve Harvey earn his money and wealth?

Broderick Steven Harvey was born on January 17, 1957, in Welch, West Virginia, United States. His first performance as a standup comedian was in October 8, 1985, at the Hilarities Comedy Club in Cleveland, Ohio. In the 1990’s, he became the finalist in the Second Annual Johnnie Walker National Comedy Search.

This eventually led him to become the host of It’s Showtime at the Apollo. His popularity as a stand-up comedian led him to star on the ABC show Me and the Boys in 1994. He would later become host on the WB network show, The Steve Harvey Show, which lasted from 1996 to 2002. The show never achieved critical acclaim outside of the African-American community, even though it was popular.

Harvey continued to work in stand up comedy while performing on the Kinds of a Comedy tour. This comedy routine would later be depicted in a film by Spike Lee called The Original Kings of Comedy. The DVD sales on The Original Kings of Comedy made Harvey more popular nationwide. He went on to release a hip-hop and R&B CD on a record label that he himself founded. He also authored a book Steve Harvey’s Big Time. The title was used as the label for his comedy and variety television show which was later renamed Steve Harvey’s Big Time Challenge. The show aired from 2003 until 2005 on the WB network.

Harvey also launched his very own clothing line of dress wear. He was featured in a movie The Fighting Temptations, in 2003, alongside Beyonce Knowles and Cuba Gooding Jr. Two years later, in 2005, he also starred in the movie, Racing Stripes.

In 2007, after 27 years of success and entertainment, Harvey performed his very last stand-up comedy act at the MGM Grand, Los Angeles. To add to his list of achievement he wrote a book called Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man which brought him further critical and commercial success. The romantic comedy movie “Think Like a Man” was basically a follow-up to Harvey’s book, wherein the characters were getting dating advice from Harvey’s book.
