‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ Gets New Trailer

Paramount has released a new trailer for ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’. The upcoming movie sees Linda Hamilton return to the franchise in the role of Sarah Connor. Sarah teams up with the original T-800, that is Arnold Schwarzenegger. The trailer shows a lot of machine versus machine fighting in what promises to breathe new life into the ‘Terminator’ franchise. The original cast members are joined by newcomers Mackenzie Davis, Natalia Reyes, Diego Boneta, and Gabriel Luna.

‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ is being helmed by Tim Miller, who is known for working on ‘Deadpool‘. It marks Miller’s first work in the ‘Terminator‘ universe, which is why we are glad that the creator of said universe, James Cameron, is on board as a producer and has provided a lot of ideas for the film. We will see Hamilton’s third appearance as she returns to her action-hero roots, while ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ is Arnold’s sixth appearance in the franchise. The upcoming movie is a direct sequel of the 1991 movie, ‘Terminator 2: Judgment Day‘.

Accordingly, the trailer is great, striking the perfect tone. Davis appears as an enhanced human, Grace, who teams up with Sarah to save someone who does not appear to be related to the Connors. Grace clearly tells her that Sarah might have saved the future but she did not change their fate. The trailer then launches us towards a new threat that the women go up against in a cat and mouse chase. Sarah does not seem to hold back, enjoying the heavy action that life has thrown her way. There is a wonderful twist on Arnold’s iconic “I’ll be back”. Since Sarah and T-800 are reintroduced in the trailer, it remains to be seen how their relationship develops. The trailer gives some hints regarding the same, before throwing us back into violent machine versus machine action.

The upcoming sixth installment of Terminator is looking to revitalize the franchise. Cameron addressed the fact that ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ would be the launching point for a whole new saga. He said, “We spent several weeks breaking story and figuring out what type of story we wanted to tell so we would have something to pitch Linda. We rolled up our sleeves and started to break out the story and when we got a handle on something we looked at it as a three-film arc, so there is a greater story there to be told. If we get fortunate enough to make some money with ‘Dark Fate’ we know exactly where we can go with the subsequent films.”
