‘The Adventures of Dr. Buckeye Bottoms’ is a reality series that first premiered on February 18, 2017, on National Geography. The show follows Dr. Bartholomew Buckeye Bottoms, a renowned vet, who offers his services to animals in need.

The main feature that sets this show apart from the others is that Dr. Bottoms does not wait for his patients to come to him. He travels around Hawaii, also to places where other vets would refrain from going, and delivers treatment to the animals who truly need medical care and attention. He travels with his dog, Kevin, in a truck that has all the required equipment and medicines.

The show has already had two good seasons, leaving fans wondering whether there will be a ‘The Adventures of Dr. Buckeye Bottoms’ Season 3. We delve into that right after walking you through the show’s details.

The Adventures of Dr. Buckeye Bottoms Cast: Who’s in it?

Dr. Bartholomew Buckeye Bottoms, who generally goes by Dr. Buckeye Bottoms is the host of the show. He is a renowned veterinarian and along with his dog Kevin, he visits different corners of Hawaii and treats animals. He is the son of the actor Timothy Bottoms, best known for his role in ‘Johnny Got His Gun’.

Apart from the doctor, Zac Fine is the narrator of the show. Along with ‘The Adventures of Dr. Buckeye Bottoms’, he is also known for shows like ‘Factory Made’ and ‘Biography’.

As the show is about the adventures of Dr. Buckeye Bottoms, we have every reason to believe that he will return in Season 3 as well.

The Adventures of Dr. Buckeye Bottoms Plot: What is it about?

Dr. Buckeye Bottoms rides his mobile clinic – his truck – and delivers life-saving treatments to animals of all sizes. He generally travels around Hawaii and visits islands like Maui, Lanai, Moloka’i, O’ahu, the Big Island, and Kauai. The show starts off with Dr. Buckeye patching up a horse in Kauai and then traveling to Maui to fix a baby goat with broken legs.

He later receives a call and is informed that his attention is needed in treating really sick pig who has been puking continuously. He visits a local dairy farm and provides medical attention to the cows there. He later helps a billy goat and by the end of Season 1, he treats a pair of cute little guinea pigs.

In Season 2, he performs pedicure to a pig and gives dental treatment to a retired rodeo horse. A dog named Puka needs immediate attention and Dr. Buckeye Bottoms gives him just that. Though, if there is a bright side of being a mobile vet, there’s a dark side too. Dr. Buckeye Bottoms and his dog, Kevin, face difficulty when their truck breaks down in the middle of nowhere in Maui.

Soon he gets out of this trouble and looks to help a miniature service horse. He later performs a difficult surgery on a dog that has been badly injured in a fight. After providing medical treatment and a professional assessment to a dog and farmers in Kauai, respectively, he travels to Maui to perform a sheep castration.

Over the entire season, the audience witnesses Dr. Buckeye Bottoms visiting different places in a single day and treating different animals like goats, dogs, horses, and sheep, who are suffering from different injuries and diseases.

The Adventures of Dr. Buckeye Bottoms Season 3 Release Date: When will it premiere?

‘The Adventures of Dr. Buckeye Bottoms’ Season 2 premiered on April 7, 2018, on National Geography. The season was spread across 8 episodes and the last episode released on May 26, 2018. Though there are a handful of shows related to veterinarians like ‘The Supervet‘ that have done extremely well in the past, ‘The Adventures of Dr. Buckeye Bottoms’ sets itself apart from the others with its unique format of mobile vet-service.

This does not just prove the dedication of Dr. Buckeye Bottoms but also lets the audience understand how difficult the task of a veterinarian can be. Also, the show focuses on quite realistic issues faced by animals. The show is not just about difficult surgeries or fancy medical procedures, it is also about featuring animals that need castration and animals that need help with itchy rears. In short, ‘The Adventures of Dr. Buckeye Bottoms’ keeps the job of veterinarians realistic and raw, a method that makes the audience like the show even more.

While there has been no official announcement regarding the renewal of show yet, we believe that ‘The Adventures of Dr. Buckeye Bottoms’ Season 3 will release sometime around May 2020.
