The CW Reveals ‘Batwoman’ First Look Teaser

It seems The CW is increasingly attracted to superheroes. The network has turned up with two back-to-back  announcements about the first lesbian superhero series. The CW made it to the headlines when it picked up ‘Batwoman’ to series earlier. Now, The CW has unveiled a mysterious 20-second teaser trailer for ‘Batwoman.’ The first look teaser reveals the new look of Ruby Rose’s Kate Kane/Batwoman and the show’s official logo.

Earlier, The CW has picked up to series ‘Riverdale‘ spinoff ‘Katy Keene‘ and ‘Nancy Drew‘ along with ‘Batwoman.’ The three titles have been ordered for the 2019-2020 season. ‘Batwoman’ is the fourth spinoff the CW has spawned recently.

‘Batwoman’ is based on the DC Comics character who fights for social justice and known for speaking out her mind. Kate Kane aka Batwoman is lesbian and an expert fighter determined to clean up the failing city of Gotham. Ruby Rose made her first appearance as Batwoman at the Arrow-verse crossover event titled ‘Elseworlds.’ It became the first superhero series to feature an LGBT main character and actress in the lead role.

Written and executive produced by Caroline Dries, ‘Batwoman’ also has Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Geoff Johns, and David Nutter as executive producers, The pilot episode is directed by Marcos Siega who also serves as an executive producer. Berlanti Productions produces the series in association with Warner Bros. Television.

‘Katy Keene’ is a spinoff of ‘Riverdale’ which follows an aspiring fashion designer Katy Keene, played by Lucy Hale. When she meets Josie McCoy, played by Ashleigh Murray, they set up a found family which also includes the mysterious socialite Pepper Smith, played by Julie Chan, Broadway performer Jorge Lopez, and his drag queen alter ego, Ginger, played by Jonny Beauchamp. Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Michael Grassi serve as writers and executive producers for the series. Maggie Kiley directs the characters based on Archie Comics.

‘Nancy Drew’ follows Nancy, played by Kennedy McMann and the events in her high school graduation period. She is all set to leave her hometown for college, But an unexpected tragedy in the family holds her back. She spends one more year in her hometown only to find herself in the cobweb of a murder investigation. The series of events followed exposes Nancy to some shocking truths buried deep down.

Noga Landau, Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage serve as the executive producers of ‘Nancy Drew,’ while Larry Teng directing and executive producing. Melinda Hsu Taylor and Lis Rowinski also join the project as executive producers.

Both ‘Batwoman’ and ‘Katy Keene’ are from Berlanti Productions. The banner, which has seven shows on The CW, makes it nine with the latest announcement.
