‘The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.’ is a comedy anime that has been quite popular among the fans. Since its release back in 2016, fans have loved its overpowered protagonist, who is a god-level psychic but still despises his own life. ‘Saiki K’ never really goes too deep into any of its themes, and for the most part, it sticks to the basics. However, what makes it really enjoyable is how it constantly throws quirky humor at you throughout its runtime.

‘The Disastrous Life of Saiki K: Reawakened’ season 1 premiered on December 30, 2019 in an ONA format and has a total of 6 episodes in its first season. Pretty much like all the other anime shows that have recently released on the streaming platform, even ‘Saiki K’ seemingly has a 2-cour season, with each one of its cours having 6 episodes.
A second season is certainly underway and will again have 6 episodes, which will serve as a direct continuation of the first season. Season 1 also ends with a cliffhanger which makes it pretty obvious that Netflix has plans of continuing it in the future. As of now, no confirmations have been regarding its second season, but we can expect ‘The Disastrous Life of Saiki K: Reawakened’ season 2 to release sometime in October 2020.

The Disastrous Life of Saiki K: Reawakened Plot:
The main character of ‘The Disastrous Life of Saiki K: Reawakened’, Kusuo Saiki, is not your average high school student. Unlike all the other kids of his age, he possesses a myriad of psychic abilities. However, more often than not, these superior abilities prove to be more of a curse for him than a blessing. His supernatural abilities often land him in deep trouble and he only seeks a life where he can peacefully live. But a peaceful life seems to be a distant dream for him as his abilities often attract many odd characters from his school. And the more he tries to help these people, the more he delves deep into a world full of unwanted crazy gimmicks. He eventually decides to finally give up on his psychic abilities but little does he know that this decision will have much bigger consequences.
The Disastrous Life of Saiki K: Reawakened Characters:
Kusou Saiki
Kusou Saiki is the main protagonist of the series who, to his own dismay, was born with psychic abilities. When he was born, he uttered his first word through telepathy without actually moving his mouth. Soon after this, he took his first step mid-air. At the age of one, he learned to use his powers at his own will after voluntarily teleporting himself. After this point, his powers just grow. As he grows up, he starts boasting about his abilities and even shows off openly by displaying his ability to levitate and teleport. He even claims that he is so strong that he could easily wipe out the whole population of the world if he wanted to. But despite having such abilities, he never really uses them for the betterment of humanity. He keeps an apathetic attitude towards the world around him and hates pretty much everyone. He gets so bugged by his superior abilities at one point that he starts seeking a very normal, ordinary life. However, with the people who surround him, he is doomed to a disastrous life.
Riki Nendo
Riki is the only person Saiki is truly afraid of. Riki is pretty much a normal human with no psychic abilities of any sort, however, for some reason, Saiki is never able to read his mind. Riki considers Saiki to be his best friend but Saiki completely despises him and finds his presence really annoying.
Shun Kaido
Shun is another one of Saiki’s classmates, who secretly lives in his own fantasy world. But despite being in his own delusional world almost all the time, he is able to make some good friends. He is physically very weak and is often pressurized by his mother to perform well in school. Every time he gets into any kind of trouble, he turns to Saiki for help.
Teruhashi Kokomi
Teruhashi is another secondary protagonist of the show. She is the most popular girl in Saiki’s school and every guy dreams of dating her. However, Saiki shows no interest in her as he is always able to read her mind. Knowing how shallow her outside beauty is, he looks at her with her very different perspective. But since he is the only person who shows no interest in her, Kokomi starts liking him.
