The Goldbergs Season 8

‘The Goldbergs’ is a period sitcom that has been entertaining the viewers since its inception on September 24, 2013. Created by Adam F. Goldberg, the family series is loosely based on the childhood and family of the showrunner, in the 1980s. It showcases the day-to-day activities in the lives of the Goldberg family members from the eyes of the youngest Goldberg, Adam, who videotapes regular events in the household.

Over the years, the show has amassed critical acclaim and approval from the audiences, which has paved the way for the show to spawn seven seasons and a spin-off titled ‘Schooled.’ Season 7 concluded in May 2020, and since then, fans are wondering: will there be a ‘The Goldbergs’ season 8? Let’s find out!

The Goldbergs Season 8 Release Date

‘The Goldbergs’ Season 7 premiered on September 25, 2019, on ABC. It ended its 23-episode run on May 13, 2020.

How does the future look for the show after the seventh season, you may ask? Well, the dysfunctional family sitcom has managed to assemble a dedicated fan-base because of its easy-flowing narrative, the depiction of family values, well-placed humor, and also for recreating the 80s nostalgia. If we couple the reviews with the fact that it is one of the top-rated sitcoms on the network, there was always a high chance that ABC would recommission the series for an eighth season. As expected, the channel has officially confirmed a new season of the series. If things move according to plan, we can expect ‘The Goldbergs’ Season 8 to release sometime in 2021 on ABC.

The Goldbergs Season 8 Cast: Who Can be in it?

The series features Wendi McLendon-Covey as Beverly Goldberg, the overbearing helicopter mother of the family. Joining her as the anti-social but caring patriarch Murray Christian Goldberg is Jeff Garlin. Sean Giambrone plays Beverly and Murray’s youngest child, Adam F. Goldberg. Patton Oswalt lends his voice to narrate the show as an adult Adam Goldberg. George Segal appears as Albert “Pops” Solomon, Adam’s grandfather, and also his best friend.

The other main cast members include Troy Gentile as Barry Norman Goldberg, Hayley Orrantia as Erica Dorothy Goldberg, AJ Michalka as Lainey Lewis, Sam Lerner as Geoff “Madman” Schwartz. The show also stars Judd Hirsch as Ben “Pop Pop” Goldberg, Dan Fogler as Marvin Goldberg, and the adorable pet dog, Lucky. Almost the entire lead cast is expected to make their comebacks in season 8.

The Goldbergs Season 8 Plot: What can it be About?

In season 7, Adam develops a romantic connection with Brea. Beverly walks in on the love birds kissing in the basement and begins to keep an eye on the two. Adam finally musters the courage and asks his mother to give him some space. Ahead of the annual prom, Brea expresses her excitement to go as Adam’s date. However, the gets worried about not becoming the Prom King. Beverly embarrasses her son by jeopardizing the school event. After patching up with Ren with Erica’s help, Barry helps his rebellious sister in being more empathetic and showcasing more emotions to comfort her boyfriend Geoff, who is going through a hard time as his father is in the hospital.

Season 8 might showcase the lives of the Goldbergs from the perspective of Adam, who is now a teenager. In the eighth season, we can expect Adam to explore his relationship with his girlfriend, Brea. Murray might become a little more social, and Beverly might continue smothering her kids with her overprotective nature.
