In an era where we sometimes don’t even know who lives next door, comes the series, The Neighborhood. This is a series that we all can relate to because now and then we are in a position where we avoid the friendly neighbour. In The Neighborhood, a lovely couple from the Midwest moves to a tough neighbourhood in L.A, where they are not appreciative of their friendly ways. This includes the couple’s next-door neighbour, Calvin.
The star and Executive Producer Cedric think that other than the concept, what makes the show interesting is its comedy. “When I started to get involved, I thought the main thing that was missing was the actual point of view of the black guy,” he said.”[Jim] had a point of view moving into a black neighbourhood, but didn’t have the point of view of the other side… if you get that point of view, you get more into the human side, the relationship side, and what it takes to live in harmony with someone next door to you—white, black, or otherwise.” The crew also said that the racial and social issues that we see around us today are also something that they strive to focus on.
