While they wait for the right opportunity to jump on a couple of fascists who had beat up Daniel, Alvin’s friends mock them and wonder how they can believe that a man like Lindbergh can win. To this, Alvin replies, “he can win”. While it seems impossible for the good people of America to vote for someone who is for the atrocities being committed in Europe by simply refusing to act against it, Alvin has accepted his country’s fate. It is not going to be the same again, and while the likes of his uncle are confident that Roosevelt will certainly beat Lindbergh, Alvin knows that it will not be the same again in America.

The Plot Against America Episode 2 Spoilers

It was unimaginable, but it has happened. Charles Lindbergh has decided to run for the presidency, but how far will he go? In the next episode, we will see the campaign of the Republican candidate picking up the pace and witness the impact of it on the Levin family. We already know that John Turturro’s Rabbi Lionel Bengelsdorf is going to be an ardent supporter of Lindbergh, but how exactly does that happen? How does a rabbi, of all people, support an anti-Semitic?

The first episode had also hinted at the attraction between Evelyn and the rabbi. How will the ideologies of the Levins and Bengelsdorf clash and what will it mean for the relationship between the sisters? At the end of the episode, we also found Sandy sketching Lindbergh, despite knowing how his family, and the entire neighbourhood, for that matter, has been opposing the man. Why is, then, Sandy still fascinated by this personality and what will happen when his parents come to know about it?

Another thing to look forward to is Alvin’s next step. He has declared that he won’t suffer this hatred quietly. He is ready to fight back, but not just the ones in his neighbourhood. If America doesn’t take up arms against Hitler and his increasing control on Europe, then the young man will have to resort to other options to do what he wants. Where will this quest take him and what will it mean for his future? More importantly, what will all of this mean for America’s future?
