‘The Unremarkable Juanquini’ aka ‘Chichipatos’ is a Colombian comedy-drama, created by Dago García and directed by Garcia alongside Juan Camilo Pinzón. It follows a clumsy magician who accidentally makes a wanted criminal disappear on-stage. What follows is a chain of chaotic events as he struggles to answer the cops who demand an explanation. Quirky, absurd, and goofy, season 1 of the show opened to modest reviews. In case you are wondering about the possibilities of ‘The Unremarkable Juanquini’ season 2, here’s everything we know.
The Unremarkable Juanquini Season 2 Release Date
‘The Unremarkable Juanquini’ season 1 premiered on May 15, 2020, on Netflix. It consisted of seven episodes.
Now, as far as a second season goes, here’s what we know. Its inaugural installment failed to appeal to viewers. Critics slammed the series for its weak writing and under-explored plotlines. And when a show starts off on shaky grounds, it does not bode well for its future. Noting the reviews, it is highly unlikely that Netflix will push its luck further with this one. And in the unlikely scenario, if Netflix does decide to go ahead, we expect ‘The Unremarkable Juanquini’ season 2 to release sometime in 2022.
The Unremarkable Juanquini Season 2 Cast: Who Can be in it?
The cast of this comedy-drama is led by Antonio Sanint as the titular protagonist, Juanquini. Joining him in other prominent roles are María Cecilia Sánchez, Mariana Gómez, Julián Cerati, Julio César Herrera, Biassini Segura, and Jacques Toukhmanian. If Netflix decides to go ahead with another season for the series, we can expect most of the lead cast to reprise their original roles.
The Unremarkable Juanquini Season 2 Plot: What Can it be About?
‘The Unremarkable Juanquini’ centers around an inept magician. Juanquini is so clumsy that he is not able to even impress kids who are usually more susceptible to simple tricks. Moreover, he is the patriarch of a family that struggles to make ends meet. So, one day, he pulls off the trick of a lifetime. He magically disappears a most-wanted drug lord (Nato) during one of his performances on-stage. And this puts the magician in a tight spot since he is unable to make the criminal reappear. The police have questions and they demand answers.
Hereafter, the entirety of the plot revolves around how Juanquini tries to convince everyone that he has no idea about the crook’s whereabouts. After a chain of failed attempts, the police decide to send him to the US since they are convinced about his involvement in Nato’s escape. But Juanquini is rescued by Nato. In the end, it is revealed that our protagonist is, in fact, a great mage — maybe even Merlin’s heir. Season 2, if it happens, is expected to follow the magician as he journeys more into his past to uncover his true heritage.
