Some families get up to all sorts of adventures and following them results in fun for the viewers. At least that is the case for ‘The Venture Bros.’ an American adult animated television series that has been created by Christopher McCulloch and Doc Hammer. The series first premiered on Adult Swim, Cartoon Network’s late-night programming block. The pilot episode aired on February 16, 2003, with the first season itself starting from August 7, 2004.

Although the series was first conceived to be a satire of boy adventurer and space-age fiction that was prevalent in the 1960s, it is now firmly an action-adventure series that has comedy-drama elements. In terms of years, ‘The Venture Bros.’ happens to be Adult Swim’s longest-running television series that has seen a total of seven successful seasons so far. But will there be  ‘The Venture Bros.’ season 8? Here’s everything we know.

The Venture Bros. Cast: Who is in It?

The cast of ‘The Venture Bros.’ comprises of the members of the Venture family and their antagonists. We have Hank and Dean Venture, voiced by Christopher McCulloch and Michael Sinterniklaas, respectively. They are the titular fraternal twins of the show. While Hank is more courageous and outgoing, Dean is the timider of the two. The two teenagers are often seen in dangerous situations and in past seasons they have also been killed numerous times. However, they have been replaced by clones who have no memories of these deaths. There is some debate about who the mother of the twins are.

We also see Dr. Thaddeus “Rusty” Venture voiced by James Urbaniak, a former boy adventurer who runs the remains of the Venture Industries, which was established by his father, Jonas. When we see the Venture Industries itself, it is clear that Jonas started something that went on to become a global corporation. However, following his death, the company is a mere shadow of itself and despite Rusty’s best efforts, it does not seem like the company can return to its former glory. As for Rusty himself, it is shown that he dropped out of college after his father died and his academic credentials are under question. He seems to hold an honorary degree from Tijuana community college, and though he tries to follow in his father’s footsteps, he is nowhere as competent as Jonas. Moreover, Rusty seems to have questionable ethics which leads others to accuse him of capitalizing on his father’s success.

The show also introduces us to Brock Samson, voiced by Patrick Warburton, as the longtime bodyguard to the Venture family. Brock is a killing machine who prefers hand to hand combat or using his combat knife or trusty Dodge Charger instead of firearms to protect the Venture family from threats. Lastly, we have Dr. Jonas Venture, the deceased father, voiced by Paul Boocock. Although Jonas is a super scientist and an inspirational figure to his family, it is made clear that Jonas is not the perfect father he has been made out to be, as the series progresses.

This brings us to the many villains that antagonize the Venture family. First off, we have the Monarch, voiced by Christopher McCulloch. He is the primary nemesis of the Venture family although mostly ineffective. The Monarch has been a thorn in Dr. Venture’s side although the motive for antagonizing him is unknown. The Monarch happens to be assisted by Dr. Mrs. Monarch, voiced by Doc Hammer. We also have the likes of Baron Werner Ünterbheit, voiced by T. Ryder Smith, a former dictator with a grudge against Venture, who blames him for losing his jaw in college, and Phantom Limb voiced by James Urbaniak, who is a ruthless killer.

All the main cast members are expected to return for season 8.

The Venture Bros. Plot: What is it About?

‘The Venture Bros.’ is a show that chronicles the lives and adventures of the Venture family and its various members. We are introduced to all the key characters and follow them as they embark on their daily tasks or go on different adventures. Over the past seasons, the show has toyed with the concept that one of the Venture family members might even go over to the dark side, so to speak. The last season definitely raised some big questions about Jonas and the siblings, which will probably be addressed in the upcoming season.

Season 8 will most likely see Rusty and the Monarch come to terms with the fact that they are siblings. Meanwhile, Hank and Dean have a falling out when the former learns that the latter has hooked up with his girlfriend. Perhaps this will cause the siblings to turn into enemies. Apart from the twisted familial relations, the series also has some changes in the numerous hero and villain organizations in the world. Ultimately, at its core, ‘The Venture Bros.’ is a show about a family that always sticks together even in the face of inevitable and inescapable failure.

The series started off as a ‘Jonny Quest’ parody and the influence from comic book superheroes and supervillains is evident, but the show has continued to grow with its use of humor and bizarre storylines. Although the seasons release infrequently, with plenty of gaps in between, it has come to be a beloved show and fans are sure that the new season will amaze them once again.

The Venture Bros. Season 8 Release Date: When Will it Premiere?

‘The Venture Bros.’ Season 7 premiered on August 5, 2018. The show has already been renewed for an eighth season, so the fans can rejoice. However, no release date has been set for the upcoming season. Usually, the seasons of the show have quite a few years of gaps in between them, which leads us to believe that the release date for ‘The Venture Bros.’ Season 8 could be sometime in early 2020.
