Tinsley Mortimer is a socialite and television personality based in the United States. She was born Tinsley Randolph Mortimer on August 11, 1975, in Richmond, Virginia. She studied in St. Catherine’s School while growing up in Richmond. Her family consisted of her father George Riley Mercer Jr., who was a rich real estate investor; mother Dale Mercer, who was an interior decorator and a sister named Dabney Mercer. She was a member of Kirby House when she attended Lawrenceville School. She joined the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for her freshman year but dropped out as she wanted to study at Columbia University. She has volunteered at Habitat for Humanity in Washington, D.C. for a year while waiting to be accepted into Columbia University. She graduated with a BA in History from Columbia University.

Mortimer has her own exclusive line of clothes and handbags for Samantha Thavasa and she has also featured in an advertisement campaign for her own bags and clothes. Madison Avenue stores in the United States carry her handbags. It was a while later that she began her own line of clothes, calling it “Riccime by Tinsley Mortimer.” They are available in various stores across Japan including Isetan. Mortimer has always been involved with other projects where she looked into the branding and design of a condominium development in 2008.

Mortimer’s television debut was through a premiere episode of “Gossip Girls” in the second season in 2008. In her next show for The CW, Mortimer starred in her own reality TV show and called it “High Society” (2010) which also starred other socialites such as Devorah Rose and Paul Johnson Calderon. She has also written a section in Stuart Fisher’s bestselling book titled “The Park Avenue Diet”. The article outlined recommendations on how to improve one’s social and conversational skills. She has graced the cover as well as the editorial of “Vestal” magazine in May 2012 which was styled by Lo’renzo Hill-White and photographed by Kevin Sinclair, a known fashion photographer. She has appeared on the show “Dr. Phil” along with her mother Dale and has discussed her marriage as well as differences with her mother.

Mortimer lost her father on March 26, 2015, in Providence, Rhode Island. Mortimer eloped with her school friend Robert Livingston “Topper” Mortimer from Lawrenceville School when they were 18 years old. Her parents forced them to annul the marriage and they remarried on May 4, 2002, in Richmond, Virginia. They divorced in 2010.
