After the path-breaking Robo, Tamil Cinema was able to cater to a larger set of audiences ready for beautiful cinematic experiences. Right from the most awaited 2.0, to the long-delayed Dhruva Natchathiram, here is a hand-picked list of 15 upcoming Tamil movies that we cannot wait to watch in 2018.

 

1. 2.0

Undoubtedly, the most awaited Indian film of next year. The iconic combination of Rajinikanth-Shankar, mega-successful prequel, Akshay Kumar and some never-before-seen graphics, have all been successfully influential in creating a humongous hype around the movie. 2.0 is the second movie in the Robo series. One of the costliest films ever made in Indian Cinema, 2.0 is the first-of-its-kind movie to be entirely shot using a 3D camera, and motion capture techniques. Director Shankar always famous for the usage of extravagant graphics in his movies, has gone the extra mile to make the movie. Starring Superstar Rajnikanth as the iconic ‘Chitti-The Robot’, and Bollywood’s Khiladi Kumar as the antagonist, 2.0 is expected to become one of the highest grossers of Indian Cinema.

 

2. Vishwaroopam 2

The long-delayed project of Kamal Hassan, Vishwaroopam 2 is expected to hit the screens early next year. Touted to be the dream project of the maverick actor, Vishwaroopam 2 faced many hurdles to see the limelight. Vishwaroopam is a spy-thriller written and directed by Hassan himself. The movie was surrounded by various controversies that delayed the post-production for years. Recently, Mr. Hassan recently released the first look of the project, raising several eyebrows. The movie also stars Rahul Bose, Pooja Kumar and Andrea Jeremiah.

 

3. ARM-Vijay Untitled Project

One of the blockbuster combinations of the Industry, Vijay and AR Murugudoss, joined hands for a yet-untitled movie expected to hit the screens on Diwali 2018. The actor and the director previously collaborated twice, for Thuppaki and Kaththi. Both of the movies were humongous blockbusters creating various box-office records. While the earlier was an Army-drama, the latter was a social drama about farmers. Murugudoss recently revealed that the movie is going to be an emotionally-charged social drama. Further information is yet to be known.

 

4. Kaala

Superstar Rajnikanth’s movies are always eagerly awaited, irrespective of other cast and crew. Kaala is a gangster drama predominantly based in the local slums of Dharavi in Mumbai. It has been many days since Rajnikanth was seen in a role of a local-gangster. Directed by Pa. Ranjith, Kaala is eagerly awaited by the masses all over the country. Last time when the duo of Rajnikanth and Ranjit joined hands for Kabali, Box-office was set ablaze. We can expect another hurricane at the box-office next year.

 

5. Dhruva Natchathiram

When the news that Gautam Menon and Chiyaan Vikram shook hands for a spy-thriller came out, the Internet was set on fire. And when the teaser got released, expectations hit a sky high. Gautam Vasudev Menon already enjoys a cult-following for his off-beat movies which are critically acclaimed. Adding fuel to the fire, Vikram is ultra-classy in all the released videos. Nothing much is known about the movie.There were also rumors that Menon is trying to make it into a three-part film. Dhruva Natchathiram is a spy-thriller about Vikram fighting a mystery man, Mr.K.
