Disney was born on December 5, 1901, in Chicago, Illinois, the U.S. His parents were Elias Disney‍ and Flora. Disney developed a likeness for drawing when he was promised a pay for drawing the horse of a retired neighborhood doctor. He then progressed to draw by copying the cartoons on the front page of Appeal to Reason newspaper. He had loved to work with watercolors and crayons. He was a chain smoker throughout his life and at the age of 65, in December of the year 1966, he bid the world a goodbye. He is one of the most important figures to date in the history of animation. He couldn’t complete the “Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow” project before his death. Disney had received 26 Academy Awards, out of which 22 were competitive and 4 were honorary. He had also earned 3 Golden Globe Awards and 1 Emmy Award.

In his honor, two theme parks, popularly known as Disneyland, were erected, the first of which is in Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California and was constructed under the direct supervision of Walt Disney.
