Watch Pennywise in ‘It: Chapter 2’ Official Trailer

Warner Bros. has debuted the hotly-anticipated official trailer for the upcoming ‘It: Chapter 2‘ on Thursday. A sequel to the 2017 horror blockbuster ‘It,’ the film is based on Stephen King’s classic horror franchise. The 2 minutes 28 seconds clip unleashes wrath when Pennywise returns with all dark glory. The adult members of the Losers’ Club of the original movie, played by Jessica Chastain, Bill Hader and James McAvoy also return to settle their scores with the Prince of horror. They are joined by Jay Ryan, Isaiah Mustafa, James Ransone, and Andy Bean.

‘It: Chapter 2′ picks up the plot 27 years after the events of the first installment. The trailer follows the grown-up members of the Losers’ Club who return to their home town after the Clown made his first appearance after the climactic showdown in ‘It.’ The major takeaway of the official trailer is Bill Skarsgård performing at his villainous best as It a.k.a Pennywise. Xavier Dolan, Jake Weary and Jess Weixler round out the cast.

“The first time I did it, nobody knew what I would do with it, so it was just all of this expectation,” Skarsgård told Collider. “I didn’t know if it would work, or if people would respond to it. There was a lot of that worry going on about it…I worked really closely with Andy [Muschietti], the director. This time around, because the movie became such a phenomenon, it’s almost like I’m re-adapting myself… Now that I’m going back and doing it, it’s such a bizarre thing. I don’t think I’ll ever really experience anything like it. It’s this dualistic thing of me and the work and the character, and then the thing that it became, but it’s fun.”

‘It: Chapter 2’ also marks the return of director Andy Muschietti, who previously directed Jessica Chastain for the horror flick ‘Mama.’ The helmer is also set by Warner Bros. for to direct the upcoming Flash standalone movie from the DC Extended Universe.

‘The movie is about trauma,’ Muschietti teased about the second coming of Pennywise in a previous conversation. He also added that the Loser’s Club and the events of 1989 that wasn’t revealed in the first movie because the members forgot those days!

Muschietti summons full-blown horror in some shots in the trailer with his signature saturated colours, anxiety-prone cinematography and stunning performances. The clip is not just a return to the Neibolt house, but the initiation of everything we experienced from movies like ‘It’ and John Carpenter’s ‘The Thing.’ The trailer concludes by underlining the fact that at the core of every secret lurks nothing but unimaginable “horror.”

‘It: Chapter Two’ hits theaters on September 6, 2019. Check out the spooky official trailer for ‘It: Chapter 2’ below.
