How did Wayne Newton earn his money and wealth?

Carson Wayne Newton is one of the most famous entertainers in Las Vegas, Nevada. Known by many nicknames, such as “The Midnight Idol”, “Mr. Las Vegas”, and “Mr. Entertainment”, Carson was born on April 3, 1942, in Norfolk, Virginia. He started learning the piano, guitar, and steel guitar from the very young age of six. He began singing in different local clubs, theaters, and fairs.

After seeing Newton perform on a television show, a booking agent from Las Vegas took both the brothers to audition for Ted Mack’s Original Amateur Hour, where they ended up performing for five years, doing six shows a day. In the 1960s he acted as well as sang on the classic western TV series “Bonanza”. In 1963 he was signed by Capitol Records, under whom he released his first album. His single “Danke Schoen” reached number 13 on the Billboard Magazine Hot 100 chart.

In 1972 his career took a turn when his recording of “Daddy, Don’t You Walk So Fast” was awarded gold disc for selling over one million copies. In 1992, Newton hit #1 on the Cashbox Pop and Country charts by performing a song inspired by Elvis Presley called “The Letter”. But it failed to chart at all on Billboard Magazine’s Hot 100 chart. By 1994 Newton had performed a record-breaking 25,000th solo show in Las Vegas.

In 1999, Newton was asked to perform 40 weeks out of the year for six shows a week, for which he signed a 10-year deal with stardust. In 2000 Newton was elected to the Gaming Hall of Fame. In 2005 he started his own reality television show “The Entertainer”. He participated in the dance reality show Dancing with the Stars in 2007. He was also a guest star on the show The Price is Right.

Newton received a “Woodrow Wilson Award for Public Service” in 2008. He started performing in his new show “Once Before I Go” in 2009 at the Tropicana. In 2010 he decided to take a break from performing to spend time with his family. He made a comeback in 2016 with a show called “Up Close & Personal” at Bally’s Hotel.
