We’ll Meet Again is a documentary television series that premiered on 23rd January 2018 at 8/7c in the United States. Season one of the show aired until 27th February 2018 with six episodes released back to back. The production companies handling the series are Blink Films and Ann Curry Inc. PBS is the distributor. This show counts as the first major project of Ann Curry after 25 years since she left NBC News. During the broadcast of season 1 of the show, the channel requested viewers to send in any personal stories they might have by using the hashtag #MeetAgainStoriesPBS or submitting entries via their website. Two submissions out of these were to be showcased in season 2. The phenomenon saw an outpouring from viewers who were looking to get their stories broadcasted.
This series takes viewers on a journey that is dramatic, sentimental and emotional and helps revive past historical memories by revealing their true stories of unbreakable bonds, hope, melancholy, heroism, patriotism, sense of individualism, courage, love and many others. It features dramatic reunions of individuals, bringing people together who had crossed paths at pivotal moments before the unfortunate events transpired. These people narrate to the whole world incidents and stories they have witnessed through their eyes. All sorts of stories are told that hold some historical significance and help bring people together who were separated by war, conflict or disasters.
The directors of the series include Adam Perkins, Gary Johnstone, Rebecca Burrell, Alex Emanuel, Andrew Hinton, San Knowles, Ashok Prasad, and Phil Stein. Ann Curry, Justine Kershaw, Andra Heritage, Bill Margol, Beth Hoppe, Bill Gardner are the executive producers of the show. Simon Harries and Sara Woodford are the series producers.
Who’s the Host of We’ll Meet Again?
Ann Curry is the host, presenter and the reporter of the show. As the prime cast, we can expect her to return in season 3 as well. Ann has worked for over 25 years with NBC as a correspondent. Her main area of reporting is human suffering brought about by man-made and natural calamities. Some of her major events were the Tsunami in Southeast Asia is 2005, the earthquake in Haiti in 2010, the wars in Congo, Syria, Kosovo, Israel, Afghanistan, and Iraq.
We’ll Meet Again Plot: What is it about?
The series follows individuals and strangers who have survived tragic events and need their stories to be told. These individuals are brought together to be reunited with the long-lost people in their lives with whom they suffered and experienced those specific moments in their lives. Each episode of the show features two people who were affected by some major event of American history. The show follows individuals as they set out on a journey of discovering a specific stranger, a family member or a long-lost friend. All the major historical events that have shaped America are covered in the show. They are showcased from the point of view of citizens, not the official authorities or government but are broadcast as a first-hand account of ordinary people who have experienced the events in question.
The first season of the show follows people who experienced the early days of LGBT movement of the 1970s, the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s, the terrorist attacks of September 11, the Vietnam War, the eruption of Mount St. Helens in the 1980s and the experience of World War II. One story includes a Vietnam War baby who sets out to find her American father whom she last saw around 40 years ago. Another is of a military person who helped a stranger to overcome the trauma of 9/11.
Season 2 dealt with several tragic events that told the story of the great Alaskan earthquake, the survivors of the Holocaust, the Vietnam war and the Korean War.
We’ll Meet Again Season 3 Release Date: When will it premiere?
PBS announced on October 29, 2018, that season 2 was scheduled an air date of November 13th, 2018. The official preview of the series read, “Ann Curry is back to help people find someone whose actions changed the course of their lives..” We have no news of season 3 yet. As usual, it may release in Q4 of the year and there is still a long time to go but a renewal could be announced anytime based on the audience reviews and the channel spokesperson. So, stay tuned!
