We're Here Season 2

In April 2020, HBO sashayed into the drag scene by dropping the reality series ‘We’re Here.’ The show follows three charismatic drag artists – Bob the Drag Queen, Eureka, and Shangela, as they strut into small towns across America and transform some locals into fierce and confident drag queens for an over-the-top drag event. The show has been created by Stephen Warren and Johnnie Ingram, while Peter LoGrec serves as the director.

The first season not only recreates the magic of drag culture hits like ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ and ‘Queer Eye’ but also manages to show the gritty and realistic reception of drag artists in the real world. The show managed to garner the love of the audiences and critics. In case you are a fan, you must be wondering: Will ‘We’re Here’ season 2 ever get made? Let’s find out!

We’re Here Season 2 Release Date

‘We’re Here’ season 1 premiered on April 23, 2020, on HBO. After airing six hour-long episodes, the show wrapped up on June 4, 2020.

As the lighthearted docuseries debuted during the onset of the global pandemic, the show couldn’t manage to carry out the promotions as planned. However, it garnered rave reviews from critics and the audiences who savored the six-hours long delicacy. So, is there any news about a renewal? Yes, indeed. HBO has officially announced that the show will be returning for another season. If things go as expected, ‘We’re Here’ season 2 can release sometime in 2021.

Who are the Mentors of We’re Here?

Three ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ alums – Bob the Drag Queen, Eureka O’Hara, and Shangela Laquifa Wadley are the drag mamas of the show. Bob, the Drag Queen, is an actor, musician, and comedian. Born as Caldwell Tidicue, the queen is the winner of the eighth season of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race.’ The sassy and fierce queen is also known for her work in ‘Tales of the City’ and ‘High Maintenance.’

Shangela Laquifa Wadley’s birth name is Darius Jeremy Pierce. Shangela is a former contestant of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ seasons 2 and 3. His captivating performance in ‘A Star Is Born’ earned him widespread recognition and the chance to become the first-ever drag queen to walk the Oscars red carpet in drag. David Huggard goes by the name Eureka O’Hara. They have appeared on ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ seasons 9 and 10.

What is We’re Here About?

The show documents the journey of the talented drag queens – Shangela Laquifa Wadley, Bob the Drag Queen, and Eureka O’Hara – as they revamp the appearances and inner personalities of the local citizens from six small towns across the United States of America. In every episode, the queens dress up to the nines and literally strut into a town, flashing their vibrant costumes and lively personalities. Then each queen chooses a local who wants to be at the center of a drag performance for personal reasons.

Some of the volunteers are allies, while some belong to the LGBTQI+ community but are waiting to unleash their personalities in front of the society, fearing rejection. Some people want to clear their conscience or get rid of the guilt that they’re carrying from invalidating a loved one’s queerness in the past. Once the drag daughters are chosen, the queens work their magic on their proteges and groom them for a one-night queer event, at the end of the week.

After the drag show, the queens pack their bags and sashay away to the next venue. Season 1 follows the queens across Gettysburg, Twin Falls, Branson, Farmington, and Ruston. Season 2 will feature new drag daughters and unique destinations for the queens to explore.
