Netflix’s original anime series, ‘Dragon’s Dogma,’ is inspired by the cult classic game series of the same name, which was first published by Capcom in 2012 for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360. The role-playing, hack-and-slash game was widely appreciated for its graphics and impressive gameplay. At the same time, it was also heavily criticized for its lack of depth. Even so, gamers worldwide enjoyed its unique “pawn” system that allowed them to get rewarded by spending time with their clan in the game.

Although the anime suffers from similar pitfalls, it makes up for it with its scintillating action scenes. So if you’ve watched its first season and you’re wondering when its next installment will come out, here’s everything you need to know about ‘Dragon’s Dogma’ Season 2:

Dragon’s Dogma Season 2 Release Date: When Will it Premiere?

‘Dragon’s Dogma’ season 1 premiered on Netflix on September 17, 2020. It has a total of 7 episodes, with each of them being 20-25 minutes long.

The world-building of ‘Dragon’s Dogma’ is vast. Due to which, several potential plot points can be derived from its different elements. Thus, the creators of the show won’t have any trouble extending it beyond seven episodes. RPGs are immensely popular and often traverse well into the anime genre. From ‘Tales of Symphonia’ to Netflix’s critically-acclaimed ‘Castlevania,’ many RPG anime adaptations have been received quite well from gamers and anime viewers alike. This suggests that regardless of the response it receives, ‘Dragon’s Dogma’ might eventually become a commercial success. Though, considering how the game was thrashed for its shallow storyline, it still seems an obscure choice for an anime adaptation. Conversely, that itself could work in its favor as Netflix successfully transformed the cult video game ‘Castlevania’ into a stirring anime series.

All things considered, it seems likely that Netflix might consider it for renewal. If everything goes well for the series, we can expect ‘Dragon’s Dogma’ season 2 to release sometime in early 2021. Till then, you can check out other similar fantasy anime.

Dragon’s Dogma Season 2 Cast

The cast of ‘Dragon’s Dogma’ is led by Greg Chun (‘Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion,’ ‘World of Warcraft) who voices Arisen, and Erica Mendez (‘Erased,’ ‘Hunter x Hunter‘), who is the voice behind Hannah. The same roles are voiced by Yūichi Nakamura and Nana Mizuki, respectively, in the Japanese version. Other secondary voice actors involved in the series include Christina Vee as Olivia, David Lodge as the dragon, Jeannie Tirado as Louis, and Ryan Bartley as Salai.

Dragon’s Dogma Season 2 Plot: What Can it Be About?

Towards the end of the first season, Arisen is swallowed by his pride, and he kills the dragon. As a result, although his thirst for revenge is quenched, he faces an unforeseeable consequence—he starts becoming the dragon himself. But even after transforming into the vicious creature, Arisen does not give up on his morals. He asks Hannah to look after the world while he’s gone and disappear into a portal in the sky. From the looks of it, the next season will now focus on Hannah. Just like the original games allow players to shift between characters and play different roles, the series might tread a similar path and allow viewers to watch it from the perspective of a new character every season. However, for now, we’ll have to wait and see.
